If you decided to go to a rather small high school or college, there are definitely a few factors that separate it from a larger school. If you are someone who is familiar with attending small schools, you might also be familiar with this list of 13 signs of a small school.
1. You know everyone, whether you want to or not.
You might not be a huge fan of every person in your school (or even your class), but knowing every single person is inevitable. Even if you do not think you know them, there is a pretty good chance that you do.
2. It is hard to get lost in the building(s).
In any small school, it is hard to not be familiar with every building on the campus, especially if there is only one.
3. People are often surprised at the small class size that you graduated with.
"You only graduated with 26 people?!? I graduated with over 600..." For us, it seems normal to go to school every day knowing we are not going to meet anyone new. Bigger schools with hundreds of people sound absolutely chaotic.
4. You have probably known a lot of the people in your class for most of your life.
Honestly, I knew a good amount of my high school classmates since I was born or for at least a good decade. The people you took pictures with on graduation day were probably in your kindergarten class as well. #NoNewFriends
5. If you have any "business" or "drama" at all, the whole school knows about it within 20 minutes.
"He asked who to prom?! When? Before third period today?!" says the entire class in fourth period.
6. Inviting your entire class to one event is very possible.
Whether you want some people there or not, they will most likely be there. There is usually one party or event that everyone goes to every weekend because, well, there is not much else to do.
7. Your teachers have probably added you on Facebook at some point.
To accept or to decline, that is the question. Once he/she is accepted, there will be comments on many of your posts and pictures for years to come. But, hey, you cannot blame them because you were "a pleasure to have in class."
8. You and your classmates have plotted ways to get the teacher that you all had the next period to cancel that quiz that no one studied for.
"How can we distract them for 45 minutes so that we can get out of taking this?"
9. Your close friend group is small, but you are still "friends" with most of the school.
You were polite enough, but let's face it: You really only like a select few of your small class. There really is no point in holding grudges because you are going to see that person every day for the rest of your time at the school.
10. "Parties" usually translate to a "small get-together."
There is no such thing as a "rager" when your class is as small as it is. You are having a great time with people you want to be around, and that is really what matters in the end.
11. You will never understand that one teacher who never knew your name despite having you in several classes.
You could literally be in every single one of their classes and live with them, but they will honestly never know who you are, even in such a small school. Really?! Most teachers know who you are before you even have them, but some manage to miss the memos.
12. If you had a senior trip, your whole senior class probably went.
Which meant more fun, for the most part. No one gets left behind.
13. Even after you graduate, you still find the time to reminisce on some memorable moments.
Between the awful homecoming outfits and weird teachers, reconnecting and catching up is never dull. The people who experienced the ups and downs of a small school with you will always be some of your favorite people.
