Everyone has a favorite season. Some enjoy winter; they like the cold weather, freshly fallen snow and Christmastime. Others love spring; they enjoy seeing the rebirth of life: the baby birds and blooming flowers. Others like the sweltering heat of summer; they enjoy trips to the beach and grilling fresh burgers and veggies. Others love fall; they love the crisp air, the changing leaves and the overall romanticized atmosphere of autumn. Even if fall is not your favorite season, here are 13 reasons why you should look forward to this upcoming season.

1. Cooler Weather

Even those who love the heat of summer get tired of the constant 90-degree heat. Fall brings in cooler temperatures that make the days more enjoyable.

2. Changing Leaves

Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. The world becomes painted in vibrant red, oranges and golds. This is something everyone can look forward to.

3. Leaf jumping

You are never too old to embrace your inner kid and jump into a giant pile of leaves, as demonstrated by this adorable puppy!

4. Fall festivals

No fall festival would be complete without a hayride!

5. Pumpkin and Apple Picking

Nothing says fall like freshly picked produce!

6. Pumpkin Flavored Everything!

One of my favorite drinks from Starbucks is the pumpkin spice latte. I am counting down the days until it returns!

7. Bonfires

There is nothing better than sitting next to a bonfire and roasting marshmallows for s'mores on a chilly autumn night.

8. Returning to School

As an English major who loves school, I enjoy returning after the long summer break to take interesting literature classes, live on campus and see familiar faces!

9. Football Games

Nothing screams school spirit like attending a football game in the fall!

10. Decorating

There's not anything more fun than decorating your home or dorm for fall, the holidays, etc.

11. Halloween

Halloween is a great day to dress up, hand out candy and watch scary movies!

12. Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday of eating great food and spending time with friends and family.

13. Christmas is just right around the corner!

I know what you're thinking. Christmas is in December, which is in the season of winter. After fall comes winter. After Thanksgiving comes Christmas. As someone who loves Christmas and decorates soon after Halloween, this is a reason to look forward to fall!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
