Moving to a new place can be really hard, especially when you are sharing a room with new people. At first, it may be a little bit awkward or uncomfortable, but after a while they become some of your closest friends. Each week, you'll find yourself appreciating them more and more. Here are some reasons why:

1. They help you pick out your outfits.

Can't figure out what to wear? Ask your roommates what they think.

2. They always give you advice.

No matter what you're going through, your roommates will most likely have something to say based on personal experience. If you don't know what to do, ask them and see what they suggest.

3. They are always there to cheer you on.

Getting discouraged? Your roommates will always be there to help encourage you, whether it is to get your homework done or step out of your comfort zone.

4. They make you laugh.

When you are having a bad day, you know that they will be there for you when you get back to your room and will be able to cheer you up almost instantly.

5. They have dance parties with you in your room.

If you and your roommates like some of the same music, a dance party is pretty much inevitable. Whether it's jamming out to some older High School Musical songs or to some Bruno Mars, you will definitely have some fun.

6. They binge-watch Netflix with you.

While binge-watching Netflix isn't always a good thing, you can always count on your roommates to watch it with you so you don't feel guilty by yourself.

7. They understand you.

They understand what you are feeling and how you are thinking without you having to explain. That means they also know how to help you out.

8. They laugh at you when you do something stupid.

If you were to fall down for no reason, you know that your roommates would laugh non-stop for a solid five to ten minutes. This helps you to not take life so seriously.

9. They are always willing to help you.

Don't understand what is going on in your math class or maybe you just need someone to help you clean? Your roommates will always have your back!

10. You can tell them anything.

Over time, you will begin to trust your roommates more and more and you won't have any hesitations telling them secrets.

11. They always listen to you.

If you've had a rough day and need to talk to someone, you know that your roommates will always be there to listen to what you have to say.

12. They teach you new things.

They might teach you many things during your time together, including how to make certain foods and how to deep clean your carpet.

13. They might make you some food or go with you on late night fast food runs.

If you're hungry late at night, you can most likely count on your roommate(s) to either make you something or go on late night trips with you to get fast food.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
