Freshman year! The year full of big changes, fresh starts and a new adventure. And while you can read hundreds of articles of what you need to prepare you for freshman year, you never are fully prepared for what life will throw at you. Here is a list of things I forgot and never thought about bringing.
1. Deodorant
This one may seem like a no brainer, but carry deodorant with you. Its a huge life saver after you have to sprint across campus after waking up late.
2. Tide To GO Stick
This will be your biggest life saver when you spill something on you and a guy (or girl) you've been flirting with drops by
3. Portable Charger
4. Snacks
Food is good for the soul, and snacks are a little taste of home! It's easy to miss home cooking, too easy in fact. But by packing some little reminders of home, favorite candy or frozen treat, it eases the homesickness a little bit.
5. Christmas Lights
Decorating your room with Christmas lights will not only make your room look cute, but saves you desk space from a lamp.
6. Stamps
Grandma wants to hear how you are doing in college! A nice handwritten letter is nice to send. It also helps to have some extra ones lying around for any mail you might need to send throughout the year.
7. Flash Cards
A handy study tool for some that make learning easier. They are pretty easy to keep, and make studying on the go a breeze.
8. Planners
They may be cliché, but they are super helpful to keep you on track! Buy one that will make you remember to put items in it, and bring it to classes with you!
9. Broom and Dustpan/Vacuum
You will want to keep a tidy room, and you don't realize how much dust, hair and food piles up on your floor. Keep something handy to help clean the mess up.
10. Buy In Bulk
No matter what the item is, buy more than one. Earbuds? Bring a couple pairs. Shampoo? The bigger bottle the better. It means less time going to the grocery and buying the same thing every month.
11. Zinc Tablets
These will become your saving grace in college to avoid getting sick. Just take one tablet when you start to feel ill and it will help stop whatever is trying to make you sick! These will save you from those dorm hall illnesses.
12. Two or More Towels
It's nice to have more than one towel so you aren't doing laundry so often. Rotate them out to make sure they get used and not disgusting.
13. Pictures
Keeping and bringing actual photos is a way to decorate and to not become homesick as much!
No matter where you are going to school, you will always forget something. Every single time I leave my house to go somewhere I forget something. That's okay! It is all a part of life, and you can never be fully prepared.
