Since the game's release in September 2015, the fanbase for Toby Fox's Undertale, an original RPG style computer game, has grown tremendously. Many fans claim that their enjoyment stems out from many things, from the originality of the characters to the simple yet complex storyline embedded into the gameplay. One of my favorite things about the game, however, has to be the secret life lessons that are taught throughout the story.

Below are just a few that I managed to pick up on!

***BEWARE TO THOSE WHO HAVE YET TO PLAY THE GAME, THERE ARE SPOILERS BELOW***

1. Be wary of trusting strangers

Or, in this case, unassuming golden flowers. From the very start of the game, the player is given their first lesson: when in a new place, be cautious with those you meet. Choose wisely with those you choose to trust, for putting your trust in the wrong person could lead to your downfall.

2. Not all conflicts need to be resolved with violence

The player is taught very early on in the game that sometimes, in order to resolve conflicts, all you need to do is talk it out. Try another method. Violence should be saved for last resort purposes only. Not everyone is out to hurt you.

3. Sometimes putting aside your own needs for someone else's' is best

Sometimes it's hard to watch someone you care about venture out into a new world, especially when you know that there are dangers out there. But how else will they learn and gain new experiences if they don't venture out? Let them make their own mistakes and learn from them...for that's how we all grow and mature.

4. Friendship carries more than popularity could ever promise

The idea of being popular and known by many is very enticing, but what good is that if none of these people really know you? A few good friends beat a world of admirers, because when times get tough, you'll always have those few to fall back on.

5. As long as you have passion, you can achieve anything

It can be hard to find your place in the world sometimes, but know that if you carry enough passion for your craft, that you can achieve anything you set your mind to!

6. Never be afraid to be yourself

With so many people around you, it's difficult to stay true to who you are. Especially if it's been "proven" before that certain parts of your personality aren't the most...normal, of sorts. But in the end, these personality traits are what make you unique and is what draws the right people closer to you, so don't be afraid to loosen up a bit.

7. A little charity is always nice

Even if it's a cause you don't know much about, if it helps someone out, a little donation here and there can't hurt (unless it's 9999 G...then we might have a problem).

8. Never forget about the ones who love you

Ah, Mettaton. While he comes off very self-centered and greedy for more fame, by the end the player realizes that he truly cares about the positive effect he's had on his viewers and decides that where he is now is just fine. It's easy to want more, but look around and remember those who love you just how you are.

9. Keep a certain tenderness in your heart

Things get tough sometimes, and it's hard to stay positive. It's hard to stay completely innocent and kind. But if you have good intentions, if you stay close to your morals and strive to do the right thing, in the end, that's all that matters.

10. The past does not always have to reflect the future

We don't all have the best past. Many of us have made mistakes and some of us still carry the scars as a painful reminder. But what you or others have done in your past does not have to shape you will become in the future. You are capable of change.

11. Your true friends will always be there to support you

When times get tough, your true friends will come forward and cheer you on. Just like you helped them before, they too will be there for you.

12. Forgive those who are worth forgiving

It's not always easy to forgive people but realize that by doing so, you not only lift the weight off their back but yours as well. You give them the chance to better themselves, and by forgiving them, you've bettered yourself as well.

13. Always stay determined

There are so many things out there left to see, so many people left to meet, and so many new things left to experience. Never let one instance or situation pull you down. Get back up and stay determined.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
