13 Things Freshmen Will Do Better Or Differently This Semester

For freshmen in college, our first semester is behind us. Throughout the course of the semester, we became acquainted with our particular college or university, learned a lot about ourselves and others and completed the first step towards our future. However, there are many things we did not do, wish we did do and will try to do better as we complete our first year of college. Below are 13 things us freshman will do better or differently this semester.

1. Study Harder

Whether we made straight As or didn't do as well as we would have liked, college is no joke and it’s definitely not high school. This semester we will take more time out of our day to study, even if it only means 15 extra minutes.

2. Sleep Less -- Or More?

Depending on our schedules or social lives, some of us slept too much and some of slept not nearly enough. Sleep is undoubtedly essential for college students. Regardless of how much sleep we actually got last semester, we’ll be needing plenty of it this semester.

3. Pray For Snow

We all experienced those days when we literally felt like we could not get out of bed. This semester, we’ll all be praying for snow and hoping that maybe, just maybe, it'll be enough to cancel a few classes. Fingers crossed.

4. Spend Less Money

Okay so maybe when we got to school we got too excited about all of the restaurants around campus? Or maybe we spent too much money on textbooks that we didn't even use or could have gotten on Amazon for a third of the price? Either way, this semester we will be more cautious of our money and how much of it we spend.

5. Simplify

After spending several months on our own, we know what we need and what we don’t need. This semester we can simplify by only bringing back the things we really use and need.

6. Open Up To More Adventures

College is the place to go on adventures, meet new people and see new things. This semester is a perfect chance to experience life in our college’s city or town.

7. Join More Clubs

Okay yes, this one is very generic but also very true. Now that we are all acquainted with our schools, we can join more clubs and become more involved with our school’s opportunities.

8. Use the Gym More

While some of us lived in the gym last semester, the rest of us definitely didn't. However, this semester most of us will probably decide to get in shape and use our gyms more, especially because summer is just around the corner.

9. Show New Friends Where We Are From

We've all met some pretty great people in the last six months. It's only right if we show them where we came from.

10. Face A Fear

Be adventurous and face a fear. It could be a small fear or a very big fear. Either way, face it and have fun doing it.

11. Make Goals

This one is simple. We all need to set goals for ourselves this year and this semester. Goals for school and goals for our life.

12. Drink Even More Coffee

Coffee will be essential as we make it through the last semester of our first year of college. I know I'll be drinking plenty of it.

13. Have A Blast

This one is also very simple. These are the best years of our life. We have to make them count.

So let's make memories, work hard, go on adventures and have a great second semester.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
