Here we are again, the longest time of year: midterm season. Everyone has felt the mid-semester slump at one point or another but sometimes when we take a step back, we can appreciate the little things happening around us every day. Here are 13 small joys that you should celebrate this fall semester.

1. Filling out your planner with all of your colored pens and highlighters

Sure when you consider the fact that you have 15 assignments due this week it might be a little stressful, but when you get to divide them into pink, purple and blue pens by class, and yellow, green and orange highlighter by order of importance it'll make you feel slightly more organized. You can do this!

2. The first football game of the season

There's nothing like the first kickoff of the season.

3. And all of the football games after that

Roll Tide!

4. When your favorite tree on campus starts to turn gold

Fall is here!

5. Those rare days in November when it's warm enough to go to the pool

If you don't go to school in the SEC you probably don't have this. But if you're like me you love laying by the pool on one of the warm days.

6. When you leave for class when it's cold outside and when you get out of class it's warmed up a little bit

Sometimes it's annoying to have to dress in layers but it's also really nice to come outside and have the sun beaming down.

7. Homecoming weekend

Bonfires, football and pomping, oh my!

8. Bonding with your friends in the library at 2 a.m.

You've been up since 7:30, you went to classes all day and club meetings all afternoon, now it's time to crack down and study for your midterm. You and your friends study for hours and by 2am you're delirious. Sometimes just having a conversation with friends after a long day can be so rewarding.

9. When you open Blackboard and find out you got a 100 on a midterm

There's no feeling compared to this — especially when you studied all week.

10. When you walk out of your last midterm of the semester

Now you can relax for a little while until finals.

11. Traveling with friends over Fall Break

Everyone heads out all over the country--some go to the beach, or to a cool city, some go home and see family, some even take cruises or fly to Mexico for the week.

12. Thanksgiving Break

Whether you get to see your own family over break, or you go home with your friend, having a home cooked meal and some downtime is never a bad thing.

13. Going to the best University in the country

So, of course, fall semester can be rough, especially around midterms, but remember the little things that make it all worth it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
