13 Bible Verses To Remember When You Feel Defeated

So often when we feel defeated we feel like we have no one to turn to. But really, that’s not the case. In all times, turning to God and leaning on your faith can renew your hope that things will turn out alright. We should turn to God when we are grateful, when we sad, and especially when we feel defeated. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says that “we live by faith, not by sight.” This is so true. Faith is not something we see, it is something we feel and something we believe in. Having faith that God has a plan for you is never easy, but knowing that there is a plan is enough to help you get through anything, especially if you are feeling defeated. Here are 13 bible verses to remember the next time you feel defeated:

1. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

2. “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

3. “’For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

4. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

5. “God is greater than the burdens you are carrying. Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you.” Psalm 55:22

6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

7. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:16

8. “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3

9. “For we live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

10. “But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

11. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

12. “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

13. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
