So you've always dreamt of living in your own (bought) apartment but instead, you find yourself living in a plain old rented apartment. The walls are boringly white, the living area is in serious need of a pop of color, and there just isn't anything that speaks "(INSERT NAME) LIVES HERE!!!" Luckily for you, all it takes to fix this problem is some simple decorating - the hacks you need to live in an apartment that you can finally call home.

1. Liven up your floor and tile walls with some tile tattoos.

Kitchen wall tiles make you look better as a cook.

More tile tattoo inspirations can be found on Etsy.

2. DIY Blanket Holder Ladder

Where else would you put your blanket?

Tutorial shown here.

3. Forget picture frames, use washi tape to frame.

Talk about cost efficient and making your room look cooler than everyone else's.

More decorating ideas with washi tape found here.

4. Create the illusion of more space.

What sucks more than having no space to store all your crap in your room? Seeing that you have more stuff to store. At least with this mirror, you'll have the illusion of more storage space.

5. Add bricks to your wall when there are none.

Who knew fake brick walls can look so real!

You can get them on Amazon, too.

6. Or change up your wall design with removable wallpaper.

Adding color and pattern to your space has never been so cheap.

7. Invest in rugs

Rugs can bring color to a plain or dark filled room. A good rug will cover any form of white cement or dirty old carpets. And the best part is, you can bring it to your next apartment!

8. Showcase your line of kitchenware.

Not only your guests will see how good of a cook you are, but this also makes as a form of wall art....right? All you need is a cork board with holes and some hooks.

9. Or you can use a ladder for it (again...)

Ladders, ladders, ladders. These handy versatile that will always make your apartment look chic and well-put together.

DIY of this hanger can be found here.

10. Hang art without nails.

This service, Absolut Art, allows the art to be hanged but without the repercussions of using hard headed nails to get the job done.

11. Another adhesive (...but for your bathroom)

Turn your yellow countertops to classic marble.

Tutorial can be found here.

12. Create more space from your small space.

How else would you be stacking your stuff?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
