In the midst of all the political news came a news story that made the world stop before they carried on: Beyoncé is pregnant again only with twins this time. Yes, the world will be graced with two more children from the Knowles-Carter family, and with Blue Ivy, at 5-years-old she will have to learn how to step up and become the big sister for her twins. And that's why I am here, having lived with younger twin siblings my whole life. So, coming from personal experience, I'm here to help Blue Ivy take care of her soon to be twins siblings.
1. Marvel in the fact there are two of them.
Before you do anything, Blue, step back and let it sink in that you'll have not one but two little ones looking up to you! Isn't it crazy? Shoutout to any and all moms who birthed twins or more than two. Serious props.
2. Call them by their name.
Remembering the difference between your twin siblings could be very easy or initially difficult, but since we do know whether Beyoncé's twins are identical or fraternal, it is hard to say. When they do enter this world, though, be sure to call them by their name as it will help you and others around you remember the difference.
3. Try to understand their twinspeak... and fail miserably.![]()
Now, not all twins develop their own language, but some do. Twinspeak, or more generally known as idioglossia is a language or a set of phrases that only a few people know. You could dedicate your life to it and still not understand, but it's best to just let it happen.
4. Brace yourself for questions.
Of course, well twins aren't a rare commodity, they still garner a hefty share of questions, the most common of these questions being "How can you tell them apart?" Well, you see them every day and just learned how by constant exposure. Good enough?
5. Help your parents feed them and clean up after them.
With Mom and Dad taking care of not only one child but TWO simultaneously, they are going to be stressed out quite a bit. Help clean the table once they finish eating or teach them the importance of putting things away once they're done with them. Doesn't hurt to be a second caretaker! Your parents will appreciate it too.
6. Keep them away from creeps.
As they grow older, like, way older, they'll probably run into a creep or two that wants to get with both of them just because they're twins. However, Blue, your mom is Beyoncé after all, queen of independence and holding her own when it comes to men, so I don't see a huge issue there.
7. Take them to the Twinsburg festival, eventually.
Every summer in the lovely city of Twinsburg, Ohio is a festival called Twins Days where duplicated siblings are loved and celebrated. Now Blue, I'm sure you and your parents have jam-packed schedules, but you should come by one day. I'm sure it would make for a memorable festival. I go with my family, and sometimes I tag a friend along and dress the same as them to pretend I have a twin too.
8. Understand their privacy
While I can't speak for twins, I understand that having a twin means having an extra friend you can hang with at home. Sometimes, like all of us, twins need time to themselves, so just give it to them.
9. Don't try to dress them up in the same clothes.
Some parents like to dress them up in the same clothes when they're younger, but as they grow up they'll develop unique personalities (as people do). Unless they like wearing the same clothes, buying them the same exact sweater could come off as insulting.
10. Plan on awesome birthday parties.
A birthday party celebrating twins means double the fun! With double the presents, food, and (potentially) guests, people are going to ask why they didn't receive an invite.
11. Play with them!
You've got two new friends now. Do you know what this means? You have your own little family squad!
