1. Thank God
As you hand in your last final and walk out the classroom door, there is no denying the breath you take as you say, “Thank God.” Religious or not, those words most likely cross your mind. A month or more of no studying, no waking up early, no exams, and no homework. Whether or not your semester was stressful, it’s so nice to finally get a break from everything.
2. I wish I had tried harder…oh well.
As you are packing to go home for a few weeks, you probably can’t help reflecting on the past semester. Often times, you find yourself thinking about the classes you decided to skip or the time you chose to go out instead of studying. Oh, well. Hindsight is 20/20, right?
3. No alarm clock
Finally. You don’t have to set your alarm for 7:50 to make it to your 8 a.m. class on time. You don’t have to set 15 different alarms just to make sure you don’t oversleep for class. You know why? Because for a whole month or more, you don’t have to get up for anything.
4. Real food
No dining hall “food”? Yes! Finally, after three long months, you can have a homemade breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You don’t have to stress about what you are eating and whether or not it’s real food. You don’t have to be disappointed every time you walk into the dining hall. You get good, real food that you will definitely want to savior.
5. Real bed
No more extra long twin-size bed with a falling apart mattress pad. You can finally spread out and roll around with the fear of rolling off the bed. You can finally fit more than one person in bed with you if that’s what you’re into.
6. Responsibilities? What are those?
Nothing to do for a whole break? Nothing to worry about? Nothing to keep in mind? Fine by me.
7. Netflix without the guilt
Everyone watches Netflix while at school. However, now you don’t have that voice in the back of your mind reminding you of the three essays, two projects, and five homework assignments you have due the next day.
8. Wow, I’m getting bored
Then, all of a sudden, you realize sleeping in until noon and watching Netflix all day isn’t that great.
9. I’ve had about enough of my family
And your family starts getting on your case about school, and significant others, and life in general
10. I miss my college friends
And you realize that you miss those crazy nights out and long days after with the new friends you have made.
11. When does next semester start?
And you start looking at your calendar to see when the next semester starts and you can go back.
12. I want to go back to school
And all of a sudden it hits you. Usually a week or so later. As much as you love you family, friends, and your big bed, you want to go back to school. Like now.
