12 Things I Will Miss Most About My Old Roommate

Now that we are moving on, I am going to miss you living with me.

Now that I am getting ready to move into USM, I won't be bringing my best friend/roommate along with me. She has a nice apartment on the coast and I am going to have my own room, all by myself. As great as this sounds, I will definitely miss my roommate. Keonna was not only my roommate, but my best friend/sister. We have grown so much in our friendship and I believe that when we became roommates, it was even better for us. Unfortunately, we are going to be living in two different cities and there are plenty of things I am going to miss most about her.

1. Waking her up in the mornings to tell her the latest gossip or events that happened the previous day.

I don't know how she still liked me then. I literally would discreetly wake her up so I could tell her all this stuff.

2. Sending her the "code yellow" text whenever I needed a shoulder to cry on.

I literally would text, "code yellow" and in 10 minutes, if even, she would be walking in through the dorm room asking me what happened.

3. Singing and dancing to our favorite songs when we're getting ready.

I feel like this is the only way we truly woke up enough to go to class.

4. Doing our homework/studying together.

We usually had the same classes, so we always helped each other out. That's probably how I did so well this semester.

5. Knowing when we need a girl's night.

We knew. We could just tell by how stressed out we were.

6. Being able to have lunch/dinner together almost every day.

Before I got a boyfriend, lunch and dinner was eating with each other everyday otherwise who else do we sit by?

7. Turning on a movie while she is getting ready and then making her late because she started to watch it too.

I wouldn't have class for another hour or so and here she is with the hairbrush in her hand watching the current scene on TV.

8. Getting heated about hot topics (girl, you know).

LOL. Our different political views.

9. Our fun small trips out together

I don't know how she makes going to Walmart so much fun!

10. Our in-the-middle-of-the-day phone calls for advice.

PSH, this still happens. It will never stop!

11. Our happy reunions when one of us would come back to the dorm.

I'll walk in the room after a test and she looks at me so excited and asks me how it went, or vice-versa.

12. Knowing I won't be able to live with you anymore.

My own room is going to be so nice, but I'd rather have you as a roommate than nothing at all. You have grown into my absolute best friend/sister and now we remain, but we just won't live together. I love you, Keonna!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
