There is a lot to remember when preparing for college. To help you out, here is a list of some essentials when heading to college.
1. Shower shoes
I cannot stress enough how important this is. No matter if the showers at your university seem clean or not, you always want to wear shower shoes when using the bathrooms. You’re literally sharing the bathroom with more than 50 girls!
2. A good pair of headphones
The people living above you are probably going to end up sounding like a herd of elephants especially on the night before a huge exam for you.
3. Pictures from home
Especially in the beginning weeks, you will want pictures to make your dorm seem more homey and warm.
4. Printer
This will be very handy. You’re not always going to have time to go to the library, or to find a free printer.
5. Comfortable pair of slippers
If you live in a traditional dorm, you’re gonna want a designated pair of slippers or socks to walk down the hall. Don’t go barefoot.
6. Shower caddy
This is a no brainer, you want to be able to have something to lug your shower materials down to the community bathroom with.
7. Plenty of food
There will be times when you’re so hungry you want to eat your arm off, but sadly you missed dining hall hours.
8. Extra hangers
This may seem silly, but if you are like me and you accumulate a large quantity of clothes you’re going to want a lot of extra hangers!
9. Futon
This is not only where you will take most of your naps because you’re too lazy to climb up your lofted bed, but also the first place your guests will sit down in your dorm.
10. Wet wipes
This will come in handy because without a sink in your dorm, you never know when you’re going to have a spill, or you may have been eating a little too many of those Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
11. Backups
There’s nothing better than looking into your drawer to find you have backup deodorant, toothpaste, or makeup remover. As a poor college student, especially at the beginning of the year, I would recommend buying things in bulk or value size to last you throughout the year.
12. Medicine
You never know when you’re going to get sick. With being away from home, it’s better to have the medicine on stock and ready to go in times of desperation.
