It's so easy to forget to appreciate those around you and to really think about how much they've done for you and how amazing they really are. That's why we have holiday's like Mother's day right? Once you sit down to think about important people in your life, like your mom, you realize that your single mom is amazing in so many ways but that she is also human, where she has her own faults and struggles. Despite those she is onlu a phone call away and always knows what to say. So, thank you for everything and I hope this holiday is only good to you.
1. She isn't just your mother, she is also your best friend.
She knows how to tell you when you're acting ridiculous but she is also a constant fresh of breath air when you need it. She will gossip with you about anything and there are hardly any secrets between you two.
2. You become more appreciative of what you have.
Being a single mother is normally hard on her financially and you don't tend to get a lot of material items growing up. However, despite not having as many objects as other people your age you understand that everything you have is because your mom worked hard in order to provide you with it.
3. You learn how to become independent and strong.
Being a single mom is something that can make any woman more independent and stronger than they could've imagined. Besides the support she gets along the way, she must raise her children, pay bills, and provide for us in every way. Seeing these things allows you to understand how to become independent and strong yourself.
4. You become more open-minded.
Although it is never really explained to you growing up, just talking to others you understand that your family home isn't the same as others. Knowing this as you get older you start to understand that everyone is different and unique. You understand that despite your house being different, it is still full of love and that is all that matters.
5. You learn how to work as a team.
Single moms do not have anyone to consult with on an issue other than you and your siblings which allows the family to be a team and to work together to figure out issues. This sticks with you as you get older and you tend to just know how to work well with people.
6. She takes you to the best concerts.
This might just be personal for me but ever since I was younger my mom made it her second job to take me to awesome concerts. Even though she doesn't enjoy the same type of music as me, she knows that music is an important part of my life and it is a way for us to become closer and have memories together.
7. You can share all your stuff with her.
Even though her t-shirts might be too big, her shoe size is smaller than yours, and her wardrobe is mostly black I always seem to find something in her closet that I can wear and that looks better than anything I own.
8. She extends your family beyond blood.
Being a single mom means getting support from everyone in your life. I grew up surrounded by amazing people who helped raise me and who helped make me laugh, gave me a shoulder to cry on, and allowed me into their blood related families.
9. She just makes it easier to understand the world.
Somehow it seems like she has been through everything possible and she always has advice to give. She makes the world seem less scary to navigate through and to understand because of the advice she gives.
10. She gives endless support in your dreams.
She doesn't care what I do as long as I am happy and I still visit. She supports me in all of my dreams and does whatever she can to help me get there and for that I'm eternally grateful.
11. She sacrifices so much to give you a good life.
Not every single mom is the same, but one thing they all have in common is sacrificing for their children. Whether its time, money, or sanity she sacrifices anything she can to make sure we're healthy and happy.
12. She deserves everything good.
After everything you go through with your mother, in the end she is the best thing in your life and your biggest support system. She will be the constant thing and your life and she deserves recognition and a reminder of how amazing she is outside of the holiday.
