People say that in your first year of college, you change more than you ever have and find who you are. Aside from that, you also learn a lot about yourself and life. My first year out of high school I've learned the following...

1. It Goes By Quicker Than You Think

One day you will be moving in, and the next you're moving out. Everything in between is honestly a huge blur.

2. A Lot Of Times, You Really Do Have To Pick Sleep Over Eating

3. You Will Never Regret Having Food In Your Room

It will be 2AM and you will be hungry... and nothing will be open.

4. You Really Do Find Your Best Friends

And they will understand you. And you will miss them when you're separated for 3 days.

5. A Bad Grade Doesn't Define You

It's bound to happen. If it happens to you just remember that "C's get degrees"

6. Your Planner Is Your Life

I put everything in my planner. Everything. It controls my life.

7. Finals Week Is 10x Harder Than High School Because You're Getting Evicted Too

Excuse me while I study for my 4 finals while simultaneously taking everything out of my room and trying not to lose my mind...

8. You Bring A Lot Of Extra Stuff

...and you will never use it.

9. You'll Feel A Lot Better If You Actually Get Up And Ready For The Day

Your grades will reflect the extra effort, and you'll actually be awake in class

10. There Will Be Days Where You Work On Homework All. Day. Long.

Hint: It's much more fun if your friends are with you

11. You May Not Like Coffee Going Into College, But You Will Learn To

I'll take a medium iced hazelnut coffee with creamer, please

12. You Will Probably Question Yourself A Few Times

I think I ask myself at least one existential question a day. Seriously.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
