Most adults will say that the experience of going to college and all that it entails is one of the biggest life-changing experiences you will ever have the opportunity to enjoy. But college isn't all sunshine and roses. To be honest, most of the time college is really difficult. So, here are 12 things college students say too often that accurately express the struggle of being a college student at times.
1. “I can’t. I’m broke.”
Life-changing experiences don't come cheap and often you're forced to decide between either having a fun night out or get groceries. The outcome varies often.
2. “I’m dropping out.”
Now, most of the time we don’t actually mean we are literally dropping out of school but sometimes saying the words “I’m dropping out” feels pretty good — almost better than cussing.
3. “I’ll pay you back.”
Free food will motivate a college student like nothing else and student affairs knows this. Next thing you know you’re at a German club meeting when you've never taken a German language class in your life. You just really wanted the free pizza.
5. “Is it free?”
Whenever a college student gets asked to go out the first and most important question. Is it free?
6. “Can I get a ride?” or “Can you pay for gas?”
Most college students either don't have an actual car with them on campus, or they do but they are still very broke. Asking for a ride or gas money, is for sure not an unusual thing.
7. “This is impossible."
Personally, I say this one at least once or twice a day, because although the “adult world” after college is supposed to be worse sometimes college can feel really impossible.
8. “Do they sell Top Ramen?”
Top Ramen is an essential survival food for college students. Its good, its cheap and it’s easy to make — its everything anyone could ever ask for.
9. “I wonder how well I have to do on this test to pass the class.”
Sometimes you run into that one class that you just can’t seem to do well in. Calculating how well you have to do on a test just to pass if an often assurance.
10. “I have an essay due tonight and I haven't started.”
In college, the only reason one would say this is if they were really busy and didn’t have any time to write the essay prior to the night before it’s due, or the more likely situation, they procrastinated. Either way, spending all-nighters writing a paper happens more than most college students care to admit.
11. “I’m going to have a panic attack.”
This one is especially true during finals week when all your teachers decided it’d be a good idea to give you as much work as possible.
12. “I need coffee.”
Because I’ve determined the only to really survive college is to just drink a lot — and I mean a lot — of coffee.
