12 Things Coffee Lovers Experience on a Daily Basis
Anna Kutukova @ 123rf.com

1. You can’t begin your morning without a hot cup of coffee.

You get up and you get that coffee pot ‘a brewin. You have to get the warm goodness inside your belly or you’ve already started your day off on the wrong foot.

2. Your coffee is actually a public service, because you are a completely different person without it.

Do. Not. Speak.To. Me.

3. You have that coffee mug that is your favorite to drink out of.

It’s just the one. There’s no arguing. It’s the right size, right color, and holds your coffee perfectly for the pictures you take of it.

4. Let’s be honest, you probably can’t begin your morning without at least two cups of coffee, and more than likely in different forms.

Pour up? Drank. Head shot? Drank. Sit down? Drank. Stand up? Drank. Tired? Drank. Wake up? Drank. Who are you kidding, one is never enough. You either brew a second pot, stop by your favorite shop for an ice cold brew or you visit a local store to pick up a can of Doubleshot to get you up and going.

5. In your 8 a.m. meeting and looking dumbfounded at that one person without coffee.

How do you do it? What’s your secret? I am weak. I need it.

6. The morning meeting made you realize that the ONLY way you survived college was with this wonderful nectar from the gods, and you are thankful.

Shoutout to you, coffee. You helped me do it. Through those early mornings, late nights, and mid-afternoon slumps, you helped me make it, and there’s no way I could have done it without you.

7. By 10:30, you are bonding with your friends about your passion for java and how it completes you.

Coffee dates with your best friend, knowing your barista by name and they know yours-- it’s a culture really.

8. Your lunch plans are dictated by how good their coffee is.

You have no time for bad coffee. You always see a way to multi-task; there must always be good food and good coffee.

9. You have a strong desire to use your Starbucks Gold Card daily.

You proudly own that thing. You look forward to those birthday coffees, Double Star days, free iced coffee refills, and even more. Having it implores you to stop by the nearest spot every time. Every time you use it, you get more points so it’s a win-win!

10. 2:30 is only one of the few dedicated coffee times built into your day.

7:30 a.m. is your morning coffee time. 10:53 a.m. is when you check your watch one too many times and decide it’s mid-morning coffee time. 2:45 p.m. is your afternoon reclaim-your-sanity coffee dedication time to make it through 5:00 p.m. 7:30 p.m. is your after-dinner coffee time. There’s even more surprise coffee times in each day--those are just the main ones that you’ll admit to.

11. You like it in every form: cold, hot, latte, macchiato, black, made to order, stored in the fridge, and grabbing it on the go.

When it’s 100 degrees outside, sometimes you have to adjust and get iced coffee. When it’s freezing, hot coffee warms you perfectly. Sometimes you need some perfect black coffee, and others you need a lot of sugar, milk, and flavor added. Other times, all you need is a can of Doubleshot to quench your craving. No matter what form it’s in, you just know you need it no matter how you can take it.

12. On your way home, you stop at the store and see a new coffee drink which you promptly buy without even thinking twice.

You are always looking to try new flavors and combinations of your favorite beverage. Every time you hit the grocery or convenience store, you know you are walking out with some form of coffee. Every. Single. Time.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
