It always holds true, that people with straight hair want curly hair and people with curly hair want straight hair. I'm here to tell you that having beachy waves and having curly hair are COMPLETELY different. When you have curly hair there is a lot of effort that goes into it to make it presentable. I call this process "taming the beast." So next time you say that you want curly hair just remember all the struggles girls with curly hair have.
1. Brushing your hair could be considered a method of torture
Imagine someone pulling on your scalp and ripping the knots out of your hair and that's what it feels like to brush your hair when its curly.
2. People running their fingers through your hair doesn't happen
You know in the movies where the guy runs his fingers through the girls hair? Don't do that to a girl with curly hair. It's just painful and embarrassing when they hit a knot which just pulls on your scalp.
3. You hate when people try it
Just don't touch our hair. Not only are you going make our hair frizzy but you're going to separate the curl and make them poofy and ugly.
4. You own a million different hair products
One for defining the curl, one to reduce frizz, a detangler, heat protectant, leave in conditioner, the list goes on and on.
5. There is no such thing as letting your hair air dry
If we let our hair air dry it won't be the beautiful beachy wave everyone wants it will literally look like Carrot Top's hair.
6. You're extremely happy braids are in
If we braid our hair when it's wet it is the one thing that can help us tame the curls and we can also walk outside with the braids and it be a cute hairstyle.
7. Unless you try to braid it when its dry
However, if we try to braid it when it's dry....... it will look like an alligator tail.
8. The straightening iron changed the game for you
Best purchase I've ever made.
9. You're hair is more damaged than someone with straight hair
When you cant let it air dry and you use the straightening iron constantly this is inevitable.
10. Frizz. Frizz. Oh and more frizz.
God forbid the humidity is above 15%, just wear a hat!
11. You want a keratin treatment but you can't afford one
This is the answer to all my prayers. Keratin is a protein treatment that makes the hair sleek, shiny, and releases the curl a little. Unfortunately, they're about $200-$300, so I'd have to sell a lung to actually afford one.
12. Everyone tells you your natural hair is beautiful
My first thought is "what the heck is wrong with this person? If only they knew what I have to go through to make this hair presentable?" Then I just face it that they're saying that just to make me feel better.
