K-State is a wonderful university filled with endless possibilities. Though the good outweighs the bad, the students attending can relate to many the struggles felt both on and off campus.

1. Be careful of the roads; they only go one way.

Most of the time, driving will result in illegal moves that normally encompass going through a one way just to get to your normal parking destination. Coming from dirt roads or city streets, it is a huge change.

2. They SAY 10-minute campus.

Let's be real, guys. Unless you're Usain Bolt, there is no way you're getting your body across campus that fast. It's a nice thought, but many college students fail to power walk to class unless they have an important assignment due.

3. It goes from summer to winter, and that's it.

Students will be complaining about sweating in shorts and a T-shirt in August, but in the blink of an eye, Manhattan, Kansas, will turn into Antarctica. Dress appropriately. Function over fashion!

4. The REC is almost always at capacity.

In a moment where you're pumped up to go to the gym, once you've arrived, it will be jam packed. This means 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., there will most likely be someone on your court, using your machine or running around the track past you. Most likely, it will turn into some sort of sharing game or cheering on the team playing basketball. But hey, everyone needs motivation, right?

5. The purple car excitement.

Dean Bosco owns a purple vehicle, and he is always on the move. Whether it's through campus or around town, you can look, but you can't touch. He is an important man who makes you feel like you know him by just one conversation. Naturally, you'll want to run up and say hi to him, but 99 percent of the time, he's onto another activity with another campus organization and won't have time to chat. It will have to wait until he comes to an event you're attending. The time will come to talk to greatness, I promise!

6. No such thing as portion control at The Derb.

The freshman 15 is a real thing, and it comes from the derby dining center. Buffet style is deadly and amazing all wrapped in one. It offers a variety of tastes and textures that beg you to eat more, but you'll regret it once you've finished you're meal.

7. Greek Life is a family, and it's hard to leave it.

Now you may think to yourself, "This isn't a bad thing," but before Greeks are thrown into the real world, they don't realize how amazing a family they've just left. Regardless of the club or group you're a part of, you are welcome and loved by the Kansas State community. It is truly irreplaceable.

8. People think Kansas is flat.

Kansas is not flat. When you have to walk to class for a 7:30, the opinion changes drastically. Cardio hill will give the butt work out you've been searching for just by power walking.

9. Big school, small world.

Regardless of whether you are from a small town or a city of one million, you will run into someone you know, and you will have to jog your memory of their name. It may be awkward, but just roll with it. So many people want to attend this amazing school, we have to accept all kinds.

10. To cook or not to cook.

There are so many delicious places to eat and drink. It is an endless struggle between saving money and cooking for yourself or wanting to go out with friends on an Aggieville adventure.

11. Wabash Cannon Ball.

The Wabash is an old tradition to get excited for sporting events. The students and families attending normally will contribute due to crowds of others in-sync waiting for their chance to cheer on the cats. It is something we hold sacred at K-State. The reality of the Wabash, though, is the strenuous activity you didn't originally plan on getting into. If one attends a home football/basketball game, they are expected, if not demanded, to complete the entire Wabash and leave winded because they underestimated the power of simultaneously clapping, cheering and flexing you're stomach muscles. The K-State family is a dedicated bunch.

12. Real or fake?

Initially coming to Kansas state, you will not believe the heart this school has to offer. Even attending classes and going out with friends, the individuals who call Manhattan home are so genuine you won't even believe! When it was the Class of 2013's time to tour colleges, the search ended at Kansas state. No matter who you are or what you're doing in Manhattan, the heart and soul of the people living here are astounding.
