As a freshman in college starting to lose his initial excitement, I've come to look for little joys that can evoke a smile on my face. In a time full of limited meal swipes and sleepless nights, I've learned that it's always worth recognizing those small moments that could really turn your day around. I've experienced some small victories after three months of school that I believe other students can relate to and may be commonly overlooked. Here's a few to share with my fellow students.
1. When you get back from a long day of class and your roommate isn't there
Nothing's better than being able to rip off your clothes and have some alone time with Netflix.
2. Having time in between classes to take a power nap
"Well, it's either now or during psych."
3. Getting to the door right before it closes to avoid swiping in again
"This door has NOTHING on me!"
4. Getting to sit by to that cute guy/girl in class
"Can you help me with this answer...after class?"
5. Swiping into the dining hall right before the lunch/dinner rush
"No one is coming between me and the pasta bar line today."
6. Waking up 10 minutes before your 9 a.m. starts and getting there just on time
"I probably won't care about this class in a month, so I should probably go now."
7. Getting a quiet study room all to yourself
"I am a master of my domain. I can do anything!"
8. BS-ing an answer correctly when a professor calls on you
"I knew I was smart enough to get into this college for a reason."
9. When you finish an essay and your professor extends the deadline so you have no work

10. Finding that one friend who you got separated from at a party
"OMG I haven't seen you in like, eight years!"
11. Making it back to your dorm after a night out and still being able to shower
"I just want to sleep, but I don't want to look like a monster when I wake up tomorrow either."
12. Realizing that half the semester is over and you still have flex cash left
"At least I don't have to put an ad in the newspaper now for a flex daddy."
