Midterms are like the preview of finals week that no one wants or needs. They're like that person you know you have to invite to your birthday even though all they do is bother you and overstay their welcome. Whether it's taking a bunch of tests or submitting a bunch of papers, midterms are hard, stressful and downright annoying. If you're new to the idea of midterms, here are some signs you may be dangerously close to, or in the middle of, midterm season.

1. You find yourself crying at least once a day.

Convincing yourself everything's going to be okay gets exponentially harder when you realize you have four midterms in the span of two days.

2. You're at the library/in a study room more than you're in your actual room.

If it's 12 a.m. and you've just realized you haven't left the library since you got there at 3 p.m., you may be studying for midterms.

3. You weren't stressed a week ago.

Midterms always seem to come out and hit you when you least expect it. Maybe next time you'll rethink going out every Tuesday-Saturday.

4. You're getting two hours of sleep every night.

Note: this lack of sleep must be caused by the fact that you're doing work until you finally look away from your notes and realize the sun is rising( not because you're up talking to friends/ doing something other than studying or doing work).

5. You're drinking an excessive amount of coffee/energy drinks.

Sleep? What's that? I don't need sleep, I just need more coffee!

6. Or if you don't drink either of those, you find yourself drinking these.

You've made a new best friend, Red Bull, and for the next two weeks, you'll be spending every day together.

7. You eat dinner at 2 a.m. because that's when you're forced to finally leave the library.

At this point, you've probably also realized your starving, so you devour your 2 a.m. Dominos.

8. You call home way more than necessary.

"Mom can you come pick me up? I'm scared." - Random kid from "Mean Girls," and also you.

9. You stay in to study on the weekend.

There's no time for a weekend when 25% of your grade hangs in the balance.

10. You don't see your friends that live right next door for days.

Don't worry, they understand because they're doing the exact same thing.

11. You feel like school is consuming you and you'll never make it to the end of the semester.

12. You realize you still have finals to get through and decide you might join the circus instead.

It's okay everyone, midterms will be over soon (but not soon enough). You can do it!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
