There’s no doubt that the Netflix trend has become abundantly popular over the past few years. With over nine thousand titles streaming the site, you’ll never run out of something to watch. Whether you’re binge-watching all the seasons of a show you just discovered or watching one episode a week, you’re still a part of the Netflix craze. As an avid Netflix watcher, I gathered my own and others’ opinions about the best shows that are available.
1. "Orange is the New Black"
This Netflix original follows Piper Chapman as she experiences life behind bars and encounters women from all walks of life. She learns that life isn’t put on hold when you’re in prison, making in funny, dramatic and binge-worthy.
2. "Arrested Development"
The show centers on the formerly wealthy and dysfunctional Bluth family. Michael, the son, takes over family affairs after his father is imprisoned.
3. "Gossip Girl"
If you enjoy watching ridiculously attractive high schoolers be awful to each other, this is your show.
4. "That 70's Show"
The series follows Eric, along with his five teenage friends, Donna, Steven, Kelso, Jackie, and Fez, through their high school years.
5. "Breaking Bad"
A sick chemistry teacher turns to cooking meth in order to pay for his medical bills with his former student as his partner. Walter White turns to a life of crime to insure his family’s financial status before he passes.
6. "Grey's Anatomy"
Grey's focuses on the lives of surgical interns evolving into doctors while trying to maintain their personal lives and relationships. Hot doctors dealing with lots of drama, what more could you want?
7. "How I Met Your Mother"
The series follows Ted Mosby along with his group of friends in Manhattan. Ted recounts the events that led him up to meeting his son and daughter’s mother.
8. "Mad Men"
This period drama follows Don Draper, an advertising executive in 1960s Manhattan, as he deals with his demons and charms clients into using his ads. Expect lots of brooding, smoking and staring out of windows.
9. "Jane The Virgin"
Accidentally artificially inseminated with a man’s sperm, Jane is a pregnant virgin. She deals with a lot of drama dealing with her famous father, fiancé, and baby daddy.
10. "Parks and Recreation"
Leslie Knope loves the city of Pawnee, Indiana and won’t let anyone forget it. She, along with several unenthusiastic coworkers, runs the city’s Parks department. Parks and Rec is one of those shows that you can watch for 15 hours straight and not even notice.
11. "Friends"
Follow Ross, Rachel, Joey, Monica, Chandler and Phoebe as they navigate their 20s in a series of romances, fights, laughs, troubles and tears.
12. "The Office"
The series depicts the every day lives of office employees. It is best known for its extensive humor, making it one of the highest ranked comedy shows of all time.
