12 Reasons I Am Ready For Fall

Autumn has always been my favorite season. The weather is light and breezy, the air smells different, pumpkins are everywhere, the fashions are great; honestly, I could go one and on. I won’t but here are some of the reasons I love fall so much.

1. There’s finally a break to all of this heat

I have an August birthday, but I am never as excited about my birthday as I am about the first official day of fall. It means cool air, it means not sweating and no humidity. Fall gives us a break from this weather in a way we all can appreciate.

2. The fashions are better

I will always have a better fall wardrobe than I do summer. It’s so easy to layer clothing, to throw on sweaters and leggings and call it a day. Autumn means scarves, cardigans, sweaters, leggings, boots, sweatshirts and burgundy. Oh, how I’ve missed burgundy.

3. School is back in session

I may sound crazy for this, but I cannot wait to go back to school. The school work is definitely not what I miss, but being around my friends, being involved, joining clubs, etc. Man, I’ve missed it this summer.

4. Everything pumpkin spice

All of us have an inner white girl that has been waiting for pumpkin spice. Lattes, frapuccinos, bagels, muffins lotions, candles and so much more. The entire season has a warm, wonderful scent.

5. Football

Football is the best sport. Whether you’re watching on the big screen or sitting in the stands, the sport makes the season.

6. All the pretty colors

The leaves are changing, different plants and crops are blooming. The world is full of bright yellows, reds and oranges. A break from green is always good.

7. So many activities

Whether you’re catching a local football game, moving through a corn maze, carving pumpkins or walking through small town festivals with all the crafts in the world, there’s always something to do, even if that’s being cuddled up inside on a chilly night.

8. The smells

After pumpkin spice, autumn has so many unique smells that fill the air. Coffee, smoke, the smell of fresh leaves all in a pile, fresh pumpkin as it’s being carved, maple syrup, crisp apple and so much more. The entire season is like walking through a giant candle store.

9. Apples are in season

Whether their being baked into a pie, turned into cider or being fresh picked from the orchard, apples are ready to be consumed by the mounds.

10. Halloween

October is a favorite month of mine. Fall is full force and Halloween is right around the corner. Costumes, candy, parties, haunted houses and more.

11. Scary amusement parks

Amusement parks are close to closing for the season, but not before scaring the life out of you. Rides that make your heart race and monsters behind every corner; what could be better?

12. A new year is on its way

December is the only winter month at the end of the year. Fall helps to bring the year to a close. The weather is changing and so are you. New, brighter, better things are right around the corner. What could be better than that?

Just thinking about this wonderful season makes my heart happy. I’m ready for these chilly nights and all that comes with them. It’s (almost) fall y’all.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
