12 Reasons to Love Your Guy Friend

Believe it or not, girls and guys can be just friends. I am fortunate to have many lovely ladies in my life, but personally, I find it a lot easier to be friends with boys. These boy-girl friendships have both pros and cons, but when the perfect platonic friendship falls into place, here are ten reasons to appreciate your guy-friend:

1. He says what he thinks.

He won't try to play mind games or be passive-aggressive. No guessing is necessary when it comes to his true opinions.

2. He is brutally honest.

Sometimes what he has to say may sting, but hey, at least he won't let you go out wearing those pants that make your butt look fat just to "be nice." He will also let you know the truth about that other guy you're crushing on, no matter how head-over-heels you are for him.

3. He is always down to eat.

And he will never judge you for how much you eat.

4. He doesn't care what you wear.

You threw on sweats and a t-shirt before running out the door? Cool. So did he.

5. He can always act as a fake boyfriend in an awkward situation.

A strange guy approaches you, asking you to dance at a party? Scoot a little closer to your guy friend, and the problem suddenly goes away.

6. He provides insight to a boy's mind.

We all know that men and women's thought processes are like night and day, but hanging out with a guy for awhile may make deciphering the differences a little easier.

7. He can be protective.

If it's a big-brother role that you're craving, a guy friend may be the perfect fit. He may joke and goof around, but in the end, no one is allowed to mess with you except for him.

8. He will let you vent for hours.

It doesn't matter if he was really listening to the whole two-hour conversation. He probably picked out the important parts and can now help you focus on the real issue at hand.

9. He gives pretty good advice.

Because A) he knows how guys work and B) he knows your feelings thanks to the previous venting session, he has a way of making your problems feel simpler and easier to tackle.

10. He cares, without getting wrapped up in your drama.

Although he cares just as much as your female friends, he has a different way of showing his concern. Rather than fueling your emotions, he looks at your situation objectively, helping you to control your emotions and handle your problems efficiently and effectively.

11. He gives the best hugs.

It's a fact. Most guys are great huggers. And there is nothing more comforting than a hug from someone you care about.

12. He makes you feel safe.

I can't quite pinpoint how a guy-friend provides that feeling of safety. Their confidence and relaxed attitude about your friendship make being friends that much easier. No need to worry about how much you talk or hang out, because when it comes down to it, you will always be there for each other.

You might end up spending so much time together that other friends-- or even each other's family-- may ask you if the friendship is something more. But you can laugh it off. You have spent countless hours driving aimlessly, singing along to the radio. You have spent way too much time trying to come up with plans, just to end up binge-watching Netflix, as always. You two have seen each other at your worst, and helped each other to reach your best. You know each other better than you know yourselves. And because of all you've been through, you can confidently say that the two of you are just friends, and you wouldn't trade it for the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
