12 Quotes That Everyone Should Know

There are many quotes out in the world that mean a lot to certain people. These are my top 12 favorite quotes and sayings that I think the world should know.

1. No one gets to claim you and no one gets to call you their property.

You came into this world with no one but yourself and that’s how it is. No one else gets to call you theirs and gets to make you into something that you’re not. You were already yours before you were ever made to be another person’s. You are your someone.

2. When you hurt someone and they are heartbroken over it, there’s nothing that you can tell them or that you should tell them to prove that you didn’t hurt them in the way that they claimed you did.

This one is very self-explanatory, but some people still don’t get it. You hurt them and that’s the end of the discussion.

3. The world needs nicer people in it to continue to function.

This is very cliché, but it is true. The world can be very rude and mean. People are ridiculed, judged and bullied on a daily basis. So, if you don’t know any nice people in a world that's so hateful, you can be the nice person and shine a light in a dark place. It’s not as hard as you think.

4. In order for you to not be lonely, you need to enjoy your own company.

Once you have made friends with yourself, you will never ever be alone or lonely again. This goes hand in hand with being able to love yourself. It takes some time, but it’ll be one of the best friendships that you ever make.

5. Don’t be stationary in anything that you do.

This is one of my favorite quotes. We, as people, are made for adventures, experience, and learning more and more about who we are. Ships can go coast to coast and so can we. Don’t make this world keep you in one place. Go out and explore everything out there.

6. Be kind to any and everyone who you meet because everyone is fighting a battle that no one else knows about.

Be nice to people, compliment people, and love people because so many people go through so many different things.

7. We go through a lot in our lives, but, in the end, it will all be worth it.

So, take the bad with the good and continue on through life because you will never get served something that you cannot handle.

8. No one can justify how you feel or think.

Your feelings are what make you unique to the world. If you were like everyone else, what would that look like to the world? That’s super boring. So, continue to be you and feel what you feel. You don’t have to apologize for anything.

9. You cannot take back anything that was said.

The tongue is super powerful. So, if you say something mean, you can’t go back and apologize for it because people will never forget anything that you said. Be careful with the words that you use.

10. Just think about it. You could totally dislike someone for absolutely no reason.

You could make up all sorts of scenarios and think bad thoughts about this person, but, once you sit down and talk to them, all of these thoughts could be blown out of the water. This person is someone who you thought that they would never be, only because you thought of them in such a harsh way. The same could be said about someone that you fantasize about (celebrity, crush, etc.).

11. Loving people unconditionally is what people with big hearts do all of the time.

You might love someone so hard and those feelings are never reciprocated, but it is never your fault. Some people just really don’t deserve the love that your heart can give out, so you have to learn who you can love.

12. People think that they can bring you down and jump on you because of all of your faults, but, once you learn to accept them, no one can hurt you anymore.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
