Writing is hard. For young writers, it’s even harder. Usually it’s difficult to get the ball rolling, to come up with an idea and get it on the page. We’ve all heard the greats telling us to just sit down and do it, that you won’t be a writer unless you actually write. They’re right, but here are a few tips in case you need a little extra time before that.
1. Tweet.
Tweeting will get your fingers warm and ready. Trust me, all the best authors do it. (Go follow them now! They’re so funny.)
2. Put together a writing playlist.
We all need music for writing, right?
3. Clean your room/house.
4. Make a snack.
Brain food is crucial for any writing to get done.
5. Take a nap.
Glorious, glorious napping.
6. Read inspirational quotes on Pinterest.
Or, you could even read an article if you’re up for it.
7. Have an emergency mini-dance party!
Get yourself hyped up for that awesome book you can write.
8. Spend some time on Tumblr.
Enough said.
9. Call your best friend and ask them to give you a pep talk.
I actually did this the other day, and it worked swimmingly.
10. Take a shower.
This is a lengthy process, and a ton of authors have said they get their best ideas in the shower.
