12 Life Lessons From "The Princess Diaries"

The wondrous movie that is "The Princess Diaries" has just passed its 15 year anniversary. I know I know, you now feel terribly old, but this movie is a complete work of art. It will never get old, and is at one point every little girls dream life. When the sequel came out, the little girl in us jumped for joy, and we are patiently awaiting the release of the third (Hopefully? Maybe?). The amount of times I have watched this series cannot even be counted, but the lessons I have learned will stay with me forever.

1. It is OK to take a break from punctuality here and there, but to also think highly of yourself.

Easily one of the most popular quotes from the movie, but who doesn't want to be like Queen Clarisse?

2. It is important to be a strong, independent woman.

Don't mean to go all feminist on you, but why can't a woman rule without a man? Be confident in what you can do as a woman, and show that to the world.

3. Before all else, it is important to stand up for yourself.

4. Be with those who love you for who you are on the inside.

5. Mind your P's and Q's, they will go a long way.

6. Family comes before everything, especially work.

7. Embrace those frizzy curls, girl.

Not all princesses are born with naturally shiny, silky smooth hair but with a few brushes, hair treatments and straighteners we can fix that.

8. Always find ways to relieve stress.

And have fun making art with your mother.

9. Stand up to bullies.

Ice cream is sweet, but revenge is sweeter.

10. It's important to have your girl gang.

Everyone needs a GNO sometimes.

11. Always have your best friends back.

If they don't like you, chances are I don't like you.

12. Amen, Joe.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
