Mr. George Feeny: arguably one of the wisest teachers on television in the past 25 years. He appeared in the show Boy Meets World, and continues to make cameo appearances in a follow up show, Girl Meets World. He began as simply being a neighbor and a 6th grade English teacher to the protagonist, but throughout the series, he became a very important mentor to his students through their senior year of high school and beyond. During the 7 years of Mr. Feeny's presence on television, he provided the characters as well as the viewers with countless pieces of valuable words of wisdom. The list below highlights some of the best life lessons Mr. Feeny taught his young audience.
1. The Power of Love:

"The tragedy [in Romeo and Juliet], Mr. Matthews, is not about a dumb girl, or the boy who kills himself because of her. It's about the all-consuming power of love. And the inevitability of its influence on each of our lives."
2. On the Value of Education:
"You see, Mr. Matthews, education is not about obscure facts and little test scores. Education is about the overall effect of years of slow absorption, concepts, philosophies, approaches to problem solving. The whole process is so grand and all-encompassing that it really can't be threatened by the occasional late night no-hitter."
3. On True Friendship:
"Friendship, for example, is a real gift. And it's given with no expectation, and no gratitude is necessary. Not between real friends. You think about that."
4. On Making Decisions:
"If you search your heart and listen to its instruction, you won't go wrong."
5. On Societal Expectations:
"Unfortunately we live in a society where they tell us we have to look a certain way, so we're all under pressure to live up to unrealistic expectations."
6. On Personal Growth:
"If you let people's perception of you dictate your behavior, you will never grow as a person."
7. On Family:
"There is no model household. There are no model parents. A family is a living breathing thing that requires constant adjustment and change."
8. On Life Opportunities:
"Ah, the old nature vs. nurture conundrum. Personally I believe that a man, no matter where he comes from, chooses his own path."
9. On Love (again):
"I believe that when you find love you hold onto it and cherish it because there is nothing finer and it may never come again. And that, my dears, is the most important thing I could teach you."
10. On Life after School:
"See, it's not enough to leave school and just desire to succeed in this cold, cruel world. Because then you've simply become a part of it. You must also have the desire to change it. And to change it, you'll need a fine mind, and a good heart."
11. On Being a Hero:
"To me, a real hero is someone who does the right thing when the right thing isn't easy to do."
12. On Life in General:
Mr. Feeny: "Believe in yourselves. Dream. Try. Do good."
Topanga: "Don't you mean 'do well'?"
Mr. Feeny: "No, I mean 'do good'."
