As we embark on this next semester of new memories, late nights writing papers and the magic that is college, I wanted to appreciate the funny moments that have happened in my first semester. I then decided to extend the olive branch and ask those around me to share their LOL moments. I had the pleasure of learning the funny happenstances of people I don't even know nor do they live in the US. Enjoy!
Boo? More Like Books
"Well, I had this big, white blanket wrapped around myself a few months ago, around midterms. It was late-ish at night, probably 9 or so, and I was walking to the Cafe. I'm covered in the blanket, so you can't see my feet or anything. I look over, because I hear laughter from the Cafe patio, by the door. I'm by the student center. One person looks completely horrified and the others are just laughing uncontrollably. The one that looks horrified stands up and walks towards me, and I know them, but I'm really confused, and they finally get to me and they say, "Sam, you scared the sh*t out of me! I thought you were a ghost!" – Sam, Class of 2019
Kardashian "Kult."
"When my roommate and I filled out our roommate agreement there was a section that asked if either of us had anything religious, spiritual, or special that we did. She wrote that she religiously watches the Kardashians and not to change the channel. I wrote do not question my fandoms." – Mckenzie, Class of 2019
Bubble Trouble.
"My first year I got locked in a closet for almost 2 hours and it took like 8 people to get me out. It was finals and we were all going a bit crazy, my roommate and I were having a bubble war and the door broke." – Bri, Class of 2017
Netflix And Preach.
Having to explain Netflix and Chill to my Sociology teacher. – Kari, Class of 2019
If You Like It Then You Should've Put A Cheerio On It.
"The funniest moment was when I was in my car crash and my Big, Kelsey had to feed me dry cheerios by hand because my right hand was completely numb and my left arm had an IV in it." – Amira, Class of 2019
Laptop Protection Program.
"So, I have to take the bus everyday from school to get home. That day I took my MacBook in my backpack to do some school work (and play). Since it was late at night, I didn't want to take my laptop with me because I live in a sketchy neighborhood and robbery is fairly common, so I asked a friend of mine to take my laptop in his car and bring it back the next day. I asked him to take care of my computer with his life cause is the most valuable thing I have and he said he would. He was supposed to give a ride to another friend so when I got home I get this picture. His car does not have seat belts in the back." – Karin, Paraguay, Class of 2021
What Time Is It? Pancake Time.
"The funniest time I remember is when my best friend and some of my other friends and I went to IHOP after the semi-formal and stayed til almost 4 am. We made so many jokes and so many wonderful memories. I'll never forget that night." – Angel, Class of 2017
The Walking Pom-Poms
"Well this is when my roommate moved out and I was alone for the first night. I hate being alone. So from being alone, and the dorms being a bit creepy, I did not sleep well. I woke up several times in the middle of the night. During each time I woke up, I got very scared, and with a few pitiful squeals, and mini heart attacks. This was because at the foot of my bed I thought there was Michonne from the Walking Dead standing at the foot of my bed. It was indeed not her, but instead a Salem pom-pom. Each time I figure this out, but continue to freak out." – Victoria, Class of 2018
Slip and Slide
"My best friend is at Coastal Carolina University. He was in the shower and his roommate walked in to throw cold water on him in the shower. In a brilliant turn of events, my friend went to deflect the water with his hands and ended up knocking down the shower curtain rod. I may not have been there, but the video was priceless!" – Kenzie, Class of 2019
Cupcake Facial
"The week before my birthday, my first year, a friend made me cupcakes. So, I slowly moved the cupcake towards my friend Savannah's face, looked at my sister ,then at her for consent (to make sure that what was about to go down was okay, because I'm nice.) Then I shoved the whole cupcake in her mouth/face! There was cupcake everywhere! We laughed for 10 minutes, at least." – Amanda, Class of 2017.
