I have always idolized Hilary Duff. As one of the handful of Disney stars who kept her personal life out of the limelight and had no downward spiral, she has grown into a bright role model for women and girls. Having successes in both movies and music, she has maintained a strong image of herself and proceeds to be an inspirational guide to others, helping them live up to their fullest potential.

If your childhood was anything like mine, you idolized the awkward blonde girl whom you watched every afternoon after school on Disney channel. The bubbly teenager was full of life lessons and everyone can learn a thing or two from her. How she escaped the turmoil that other Disney stars have been dragged into, I don't know. But she did it with such perfection and learned a great deal in the process of becoming a woman.

1. "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game."

Always get back up and try again. Just like the saying, fall down 7 times and stand up 8.

2. "I don't care what people think about me, because I believe in myself and I know everything is going to be okay."

Confidence is key. As long as you have that, you're unstoppable.

3. "My mom always says, 'If you don't believe in something, you'll lose yourself completely.'"

Moms are ALWAYS right. Be passionate and devote your interests into something you enjoy.

4. "Mom always tells me to celebrate everyone's uniqueness. I like the way that sounds."

What did I tell you about moms? Mine taught me that everyone's special in their own way because they are all different.

5. "Open up the part of you that wants to hide away."

Embrace all aspects of yourself. Give yourself wings to fly and expose your feelings.

6. "If it's over, let it go. And come tomorrow, it will seem so yesterday."

When you look back on something, you may wonder why you even bothered to worry. Life goes on in mysterious ways.

7. "People are going to say what they want to say and think what they want to think, and I can't change their minds."

Someone's idea of you should not affect the way you view and value yourself. You know you better than anyone else.

8. "In a moment, everything can change."

Just like that...

9. "I just think that there's so much judgement in the world, whether it's coming from women in general or from men onto women - it's a lot. And when it comes to being a mom, I wish everyone could band together and realize that everyone has different beliefs, different styles, and different things that work for them and their family."

Couldn't have said it better myself.

10. "There may never been a sign, no flashing neon light, telling you to make your move when the time is right."

Life doesn't have a rule book that you have to follow day by day. Go out there and be adventurous.

11. "I'm not scandalous. I think it's actually embarrassing to be in those, yet some people will do anything to be in those magazines. I'm happy with who I am, and I'm happy with the way people portray me. If it's too normal, than that's their opinion."

Respect yourself. Simple as that. If you respect yourself, people will respect you in return.

12. "We're friends. And even if we get in a fight and you walk away from me, you'll always know where to find me."

And she's an amazing friend.

So basically, we all need a Hilary Duff in our lives. Don't you agree?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
