With almost 250 aired episodes, "Grey's Anatomy" has changed television. Starting in 2005, the introduction of this show sparked a strong following of viewers, prompting it to be one of the best TV shows on television for over ten years. Because Netflix has updated the series and is airing all 11 seasons, it is very easy for a student to become addicted to the TV show, watching hours of the show at a time. Being one of these students, I've come up with twelve effects of watching "Grey's Anatomy" that I personally experienced.
1. Even if you're a Business major, you heavily consider switching your major to Pre-Med.
The life of a surgeon can seem like an exciting area of work, but switching your major on a whim may not be the best, or more cost-effective, idea.
2. You believe you can become a surgeon, even though you have a fear of blood.
You may have been able to watch Cristina Yang repair someone's hear without feeling sick at the sight of blood, but it does not mean that you won't feel sick when you see blood in person.
3. You think you could successfully perform surgery on you or your friends.
Even though you've seen a routine appendectomy performed on the show, you are not qualified to also be able to perform that surgery.

4. You incorrectly diagnose your friends with rare diseases you saw on a previous episode.
If your friend has a common cough, you should not automatically assume that they have pertussis.
5. You compare all men to Derek Shepherd.
Although you've looked, you finally come to accept that no man will ever be exactly like McDreamy.
6. Anytime you go to the hospital you are disappointed that it is not exactly like the set of Grey's Anatomy.
Even though you expect to see a lot of frantic interns being ordered around by Miranda Bailey, you sadly come to realize that no hospital will be like Seattle Grace.
7. You sometimes think you know more about surgery and human anatomy than your nursing or pre-med friends.
You may have learned a lot of medical terminology from the show, but challenging your pre-med and nursing major friends on their knowledge of human anatomy will not end in your favor.
8. You consider moving to Seattle to feel more connected to the show.
Seattle may be filled with ferryboats and the public market, but picking up and moving to Washington is probably not the best idea.
9. You call your best friend your person and want your relationship to be exactly like Meredith and Cristina’s.
Once you find that person, your life will change for the better.
10. You don’t get enough sleep because you keep clicking “next episode.”
It's 11 p.m. on a Sunday and you can't fall asleep, so you decide to watch one episode of Grey's. Next thing you know, it's 3 a.m., you've finished five episodes, and you have an 8 a.m. that day.
11. You wonder how Ellen Pompeo (Meredith) has aged so flawlessly even though the show has been on for over 10 years.
She is perfect.
12. You consider buying yourself a pair of scrubs because they look so comfortable.
As a cover, say you are buying them for Halloween and just wear them around the house.
