Summer has officially arrived, and there's no better way to welcome it than to introduce some fun DIY upgrades to your home. These ideas will inspire and motivate you to make some festive crafts for your home. Here are 12 simple DIY's that anyone can try and that are perfect for the summer!

1. Use paper or colored markers to turn your fan blades rainbow:

Color each blade of your fan a different color so that when your fan is on it creates a rainbow effect.

2. Use treasures you found at the beach or laying around to create a fun wind-chime:

Taking your seashells or other items tie them to string and fasten it to something strong to hang it up with.

3. Make a solar powered walkway:

Line a pathway with rocks to your home and paint it with glow in the dark paint.

4. Recycle light bulbs into cute mini planters:

First remove the base of the light bulb, take tiny rocks and fill the bottom, then put your plant into the rocks and tie the bulb so it is hanging up.

5. Create fun lights using mason jars:

Using a hot glue gun, glue on the small glass stones and cover the jar, then let dry.

6. Tie-dye a picnic blanket or beach towel:

Gather up your towel or blanket into a spiral shape and tie dye where you want the colors to be.

7. Welcome summer into your home with this DIY watermelon doormat:

Using foam cut outs in the shape of watermelon, coat them in the color paint you want and place on the doormat. Then remove and let dry.

8. Create stencil artwork:

Find a stencil you like and put it on a blank canvas. Then paint over the stencil and remove.

9. Decorate tea towels for the kitchen:

Paint different fruits and press onto towels for the shape of the fruit.

10. Make a hammock chair:

First create the chair with fabric and rope then fasten to the ceiling with hook and steel links.

11. Turn empty wine bottles into succulent planters:

Cut open a wine bottle and plant the succulents into the cut out space.

12. Create fun candles out of seashells:

Use small tea lights to melt and transfer to your empty sea shells.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
