As a celebration of the release of the 100th Disney Channel Original Movie (Adventures in Babysitting), starting May 27th, Disney Channel is hosting a massive, four-day marathon of Disney Channel Original Movies. Even though there are over 100 Disney Channel Originals, Disney Channel decided that 51 movies in four days was enough. As much as we wish that we had 96 hours worth of time and energy to spend on the couch reliving our childhood-teen years, we're not going to be able to watch all of the films Disney Channel has so graciously provided for us. For those who have enough stamina (and Redbull) to make it through the entire marathon, props to you. As for the rest of us who want to participate, we're going to have to prioritize. I have made you a list of the 12 movies (in order of appearance) that you should definitely make sure to catch.
1. "Kim Possible: So the Drama" (2005)
Scheduled Time: 10:00am, May 27
Why you should watch it: In this animated DCOM, Kim Possible trades in her black crop top and cargo pants for a freaking awesome suit to kick some serious bootay. As per usual, Kim is in charge of saving the world from Dr. Drakken and Shego, while also worrying about her relationship status. Relatable. We all sit there silently rooting for her to realize that Ron Stoppable is the one that she really wants. And let's not forget Rufus, the naked mole rat. Call me, beep me, if you want to reach me.
2. "Jump In!" (2007)
Scheduled Time: May 27th, 2:40pm
Why you should watch it: "Jump In!" will fool you into thinking that you can kick butt at double dutch jump rope. Let's just say that Corbin's quick feet Bleu us all away...
2. "Twitches" (2005)
Scheduled Time: 2:50pm, May 28th
Why you should watch it: Unfortunately, it's not a TV movie for "Sister, Sister," but Tia and Tamera Mowry combine their sister power with actual magical powers.
3. "The Even Stevens Movie" (2003)
Scheduled Time: 4:30pm, May 28
Why you should watch it: There's nothing quite like sending the quirky Stevens family to an island with Bean as a carry on item.
4. "Eddie's Million Dollar Cookoff" (2003)
Scheduled Time: 9:35am, May 29th
Why you should watch it: It's a good thing that Disney Channel has commercial breaks because you're going to be really hungry during this movie. You've got the typical "dad loves baseball, boy loves baseball, but boy likes cooking, dad hates his boy's cooking, but they manage to make an arrangement." It's pretty sweet.
5. "Double Teamed" (2002)
Scheduled Time: 1:10pm, May 29th
Why you should watch it: Again with the sister power. I have a sister, but I can only imagine how jealous I would be if I didn't have one, thanks to Disney. Despite the pressure that their dad puts on them, the twins are total ballers.
6. "Stuck in the Suburbs"
Scheduled Time: 10:00am, May 30th
Why you should watch it: Probably one of the best things about "Stuck in the Suburbs" is that you get to see a young Taran Killam, highlights and all. Oh and he sings too. Brittney Aarons and Natasha Kwon-Schwartz live every fangirl's dream when they hang out with the megastar, Jordan Cahill. They do it with limited screaming, so that's impressive.
7. "Halloweentown" (1998)
Scheduled Time: 11:30am, May 30th
Why you should watch it: The original "Supernatural." With a 13-year-old. Take that Sam and Dean.
8. "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" (1999)
Scheduled Time: 1:05pm, May 30th
Why you should watch it: This movie sets some high expectations for the 21st century. We're going to have to step on it to get it to the galactic level that Zenon is living in 2049. The fashion? Exquisite. The music? Out of this world. The fact that Earth is punishment? Genius.
9. "High School Musical" (2006)
Scheduled Time: 4:25pm, May 30th
Why You Should Watch It: It's a classic. I mean, they're all classics, but "High School Musical" is almost the epitome of a DCOM. We've got singing, we've got dancing, we've got Zac Efron all sweaty, we've got the cliche romance, we've got the diva. We've got it all. Because we're all in this together.
10. "Teen Beach Movie" (2013)
Scheduled Time: 10:05pm, May 30th
Why you should watch it: I didn't want to like this movie, but man, you can't help it. Two kids jump into "West Side Story" on a beach? Heck yeah.
11. "The Cheetah Girls" (2003)
Scheduled Time: 1:50am, May 31st
Why you should watch it: Calling people fierce (accompanied with a nice snap) isn't a fad that started recently. The musical quartet had the original "fierciosity," especially when every single item of clothing that they own has some cheetah print on it.
12. "Jonny Tsunami" (1999)
Scheduled Time: 3:35am, May 30th
Why you should watch it: Before Hannah Montana, there was Johnny Tsunami. Johnny is given the best of both worlds when he moves from Hawaii, where he's a sick surfer, to Vermont where he becomes a sick snowboarder. You can do anything, folks.
