Lollapalooza

As Lollapalooza approaches its 25th anniversary, the festival for a wide variety of alternative music in Chicago will run four days -- July 28 to July 31. With headliners like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, LCD Sound Systems and many more, the festival will have more than 170 bands on its stages.

Lollapalooza is known to popularize many unfamiliar artists and bands. Of the artists performing this year, these are the ones I believe will become much more well-known:

1. Cashmere Cat

Norwegian producer and DJ of electronic music. Remixes and edits tracks from artists like 2 Chainz, Miguel and Lana del Rey, but also creates music of his own. His most most popular tracks are “Mirror Maru,” “Adore” and “Paws.”

2. Two Door Cinema Club

Indie rock/dance band of three from Ireland first started in 2007. This year, they released their newest album, Gameshow. Their most popular tracks are “What You Know,” “Something Good Can Work” and “Undercover Martyn.”

3. Miike Snow

Indie pop band from Sweden broke up in 2012, but they surprised everyone with their comeback album of this year, “iii”. Some of their well known songs are “Genghis Khan,” “Animal” and “Heart is Full.”

4. Foals

Indie rock band from Oxford, England started in 2005 has a new wave feel. The band is finishing up their tour for their latest album released last year, “What Went Down.” With songs like “Inhaler,” “Mountain at My Gates” and “What Went Down,” Foals keeps their fans dancing and rocking out.

5. Kiiara

New American singer and songwriter with an electronic and trap feel to her music is gaining popularity for her song “Gold” featured on her album Low Kii Savage.

6. Lolawolf

Daughter of accomplished singer Lenny Kravitz, Zoe Kravitz vocalizes for Lolawolf while James Levy and Jimmy Giannopoulos take over keyboard and drums. The trio has a unique electronic R&B feel to them which proves in their newest release, a song called “Teardrop” featuring Miley Cyrus.

7. D.R.A.M.

American rapper and singer, D.R.A.M. went viral after his hit first song “Cha Cha” which is said to have inspired Drake’s “Hotline Bling.”

8. Zhu

Chinese-American singer and producer who goes by Zhu, creates unique sounding electronic dance music. Tracks to listen to are “Faded” and “Generationwhy.”

9. Hiatus Kaiyote

Formed in 2011, Hiatus Kaiyote, is a modern jazz and soul sounding band from Melbourne, Australia. Their tracks “Nakamarra” and “Breathing Underwater” encourage imagination as the lead singer, Nai Palm explains many artists nowadays are scared to do.

10. Daughter

Indie folk band, Daughter, released their newest album this year, Not to Disappear. Their sound can be eerie and somber, but also upbeat. Some of their tracks include “Youth” and “Smother.”

11. Lapsley

A British electronic music singer released her first album this year. She became well-known through posting music on SoundCloud and through word of mouth. Her most listened to tracks include “Falling Short,” “Love is Blind” and “Hurt Me.”

12. Snakehips

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
