When you live in New York State, there are certain things you experience that no other person in another state experiences. Although we may live in different regions, whether you live upstate, in New York City, or anywhere in between, we are all New Yorkers. No matter what, we can all live by the saying, “If I make it there, I’m gonna make it anywhere.” Here are my 11 ways you know you’re from New York State.
1. You live in a state where you can experience all of the seasons.
2. When you travel to another state, the food isn’t the same -- especially bagels, Chinese, and pizza.
3. If you live north of New York City, you’ve been asked, “Oh, you’re from upstate?”
4. Subway Series.
Are you a Yankees' fan or a Mets' fan?
5. You live in a state that not only has the Adirondacks and the Catskills, Hudson River, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, but also has the greatest city in the world.
6. If you attended a NYS public school, you know what Regents exams are, and you have a deep hatred for them.
7. When they predict a dusting of snow, we actually get 20 inches of it and schools still don’t close.
8. If you live in NYS, you’ve probably haven’t seen all of NYS.
Still haven't made it to Buffalo yet...
9. Unless you vacation or live there, you’ve probably never been to Long Island or Staten Island.
You look very clueless when someone from Long Island or Staten Island tells you what town they are from and vice versa. It happens a lot when you attend a college where a good portion of the population is from Long Island.
10. There are people from New York State -- and then there are the New Yorkers.
You have people that are from New York State and then you have New Yorkers that live in the City. No matter what though, we are all New Yorkers.
11. EZPass
Mostly everyone from New York has this on their cars.
