11 Unmistakable Signs You're Ready To Go Back To College

It's coming to that time in the summer where (if you're a college student) home is starting to become old. Don't get me wrong — I love seeing my family and friends, but I also really miss my campus. Here are 11 unmistakable signs you're ready to go back to college.

1. You've done everything you could possibly do in your hometown.

The first few weeks, even a month of being home, you go do all the things you're deprived of when at school. Whether that be going to your favorite restaurants, hanging out with friends, spending time in nature, or just re-exploring your hometown, you've done it all by this point and are ready to go back to the never-ending events and fun at college.

2. You miss the food.

If your college in anything like mine, then it's inevitable you miss all the amazing food options the dining halls have to offer. I would never trade mom's home-cooked meal for anything, but I do love that I can eat whatever I want whenever I want at school.

3. Work consumes your life.

Working for the summer always seems (kind of) exciting when you come home from college because it's a change of pace and can be better than studying for finals 12 hours a day. But, I'm at the point where work seems to be consuming my life and my friends' lives.

4. You work, but you're still broke.

Summer is a time to redeem your bank account after nine months of living off of the money you made last summer. Even though books and other things put a dent in our bank accounts at school, now that I'm working, I really don't want to give up that money. So really, I'm broke all year round, but summer jobs just tease you of having some money.

5. You miss your friends at school.

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing my friends from home so much! But I don't get to see you every day like I did with my friends at school. I miss spending every day with these people, they're my family away from home. After a month of not seeing them, I'm ready to go back.

6. You get into arguments with your parents.

Unfortunately, this is inevitable. When you come home from college, you're so used to doing things on your own without having to tell anyone. This change is bound to spark arguments. I love my parents very much, but as the number of altercations increases between us, I know I'm ready for move in day.

7. You're in a funk.

Yeah, it's great being home for awhile but eventually, you will fall into a funk. You're bored and tired from work and all you can think of is how much fun you had this past semester.

8. You're sick of driving.

This is coming from someone who loves driving and missed it a lot at school. Well now driving really irritates me, especially bad drivers and a ton of traffic. I'd rather walk everywhere like I did on campus, but that's not realistic.

9. You're ready for sports games.

Going to a D1 school has its perks, and the enthusiasm at every sports game is like no other. You miss the excitement and all the petty chants the student section cheers.

10. You miss living with someone else.

Maybe this isn't true for everyone, but living with someone else can be so much fun when it's the right person. It's weird sleeping in a room alone and it's nice at first, but after awhile, I miss the late night conversations and laughs with my roommate(s).

11. You miss your classes.

Classes are so stressful, time-consuming, and hard at times, but I actually miss going to class. Having a routine for nine months out of the year is actually really nice. I feel more productive with my life. But when I'm home for the summer, the only kind of routine I have is getting ready for work. And even if you don't care about schedules and routines, it's nice to be learning something you're actually interested in.

If you can relate with these 11 signs, then you know you're ready to get back to college and start a new semester!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
