Group messages have become the key component to keeping in contact with a large group of friends. Group messages have their drawbacks too, such as draining your battery from constantly being blown up. However, they also have their positive sides like allowing plans to be made easier, keeping up with your friends lives, as well as making it easier to get an opinion from multiple people at once. Without the diversity of personalities that group messages are made up of, they wouldn’t be as successful. Each friend in the group serves a different purpose during conversations, which keeps the conversations interesting or even more importantly, organized.
1. The proposer.
So it's Friday night, and you know this friend is mentally scheming possible outcomes of how the night is going to play out. They typically have the most connections and are able to score the invite. Around 7 p.m. their ideas will begin surfacing in the group message and the late-night plans will come to life.
2. The planner.
This friend comes into play next, just the idea of plans sends them into a downward spiral. They most likely will take on a motherly attitude and begin the questions of, "Who is going to be there?," "What time are we leaving?," and the most controversial question,"Who is going to drive?" No one likes to ask the driving question, so, at least this friend bites the bullet for the group!
3. The flake.
Usually this friend strings along with plans as if they will be in attendance until the last minute. They will act as if they are getting ready, when they have no real intentions of getting out of bed. Then last-minute, the notorious excuse is pulled like, "I have to re-watch Season 1 of "Vampire Diaries," sorry won't make it!" Props for creativity, I guess?
4. The one who is incognito.
Hearing from this friend is a rare occasion and they are known for not answering in the group message. Not only do they not answer in the group message but it is also difficult to reach them through individual texts as well. Usually, they do end up making it to planned events that is, as long as they are not on a spontaneous vacation.
5. The investigator.
Need help stalking your ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend? This friend strangely has different sources they can reach out to for information, so you'll find out who the new girl is, where she lives, what friend group she came from, and if she is pretty or not within 10 minutes tops.
6. The comforting one.
After you have exhausted the rest of your group of friends with the same story, you can always count on this friend to be the last man standing. Whether it's binge-watching Netflix with you, delivering McDonald's, or listening to you vent for hours. This friend is always available and ready to give you valuable advice.
7. The drunk
The highlights of the group message begin Thursday through Sunday. The texts usually consisting of, "I LOVE YOU GUYS," or "I MISS YOU AL, THIS SHOT IS FOR YOU." If you're really lucky you may even get a FaceTime call!
8. The screen-shotter.
Need to know who is sub-tweeting who? Which couple recently broke up? Which couple recently got together? Fear not, you’ll never miss out on the gossip with this friend around.
9. The drama queen.
This friend is strongly opinionated and one that you want to stay on the good side of. If you happen to get back with the ex they hated make sure to steer clear of this friend. However, you can always count on this friend to have the sassy one-liners you need when you’re in a fight with someone.
10.The relationship guru.
Having relationship troubles? This friend has had their fair share of relationships and knows the ins and outs as well as the ups and downs that come with them. With their experience they can give you advice with a current relationship or guide you in a different direction to prevent a catastrophe from occurring.
11. The fashionista.
Whether you’re going on a date, out to a party, or going to the bars, this is the friend you pass all your outfits by. Usually your text to them will consist of a mirror picture of the outfit saying, “Does this look OK?” This friend has a great fashion sense and will always make sure you’re looking your best.
