Rain, Rain, Go Away...
The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow

These days up in Salem, Oregon there has been a lot of rain. Not just a sprinkle or a drizzle. It is constantly raining cats and dogs. The weather is so temperamental; it's often very cold in the morning, then the sun peeps behind the clouds for just a moment, and right when you believe it's actually going to be sunny, it starts raining again. Coming from bright and warm Northern California, even after three years at Willamette,I am still so unused to the sheer amount of rain. I just felt, as a person that really dislikes rain, the need to write an article about 11 thoughts I have when I walk out the door and see puddles on the ground.

1. When you look out the window and see that it's raining

2. When you step outside and realize you forgot your raincoat

3. You're tall. If we must share an umbrella, can you please hold it?

4. When you're walking to class soaking wet, but you haven't yet reached the building and you wish that it would stop raining, but no one believes you

5. I guess it's time to bring out the Hunters

6. When even San Francisco is warmer than Oregon

7. A good summary of Oregon weather throughout the day

8. The first thing that comes to mind when you look at the weather forecast

9. Why did I ever think that Uggs were a good idea?

10. I guess I'm with the group that hates the rain and just gets wet

11. When you just printed something and it happens to start raining

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
