11 Thoughts Every College Kid Has After The Semester

After months of tirelessly completing homework assignments, waking up for classes you didn't want to go, and staying awake studying for tests night after night, the semester is finally over! While you might have learned a lot over the course of that time, you are glad the mini-hell is over and winter break is here to stay. With that said, here are 11 thoughts every college student has once that fall semester finishes.

1. "Finally! It's over!"

We'll start with the obvious. Of course, all the hard work has accumulated over the semester so it's completely OK to feel like you've won a championship ring once the semester is over.

2. "I need a drink."

Your stress was probably at an all-time high since August so you're probably thinking this exact thing. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with celebrating with a few drinks.

3. "Where did the semester go?"

While it's happening, it seems like the semester is constantly dragging. Catching up on assignments and running around like a maniac is common, but when it's over, it seems like it flew. Looking back it still seems like August, and wondering where the time went is how every college kid feels.

4. "What do I do now for a month?"

After the last few months have been non-stop of doing something, it's likely that now you have so much free time on your hands that you don't even know what to do with it. But hey, take advantage of the time you have to sit on your couch and watch TV because you'll probably crave it once the next semester starts.

5. "Where are all my friends?"

Since you've been away at school for months, you may have not talked to your friends from home in a while. You might be bored out of your mind because you think they've forgotten about you. But don't fret, group messages are a wonderful thing, and they can help re-bond old friendships.

6. "I don't remember my bed being this comfortable."

As fun as sleeping in your twin size bed at school is, having your big bed at home to greet you is one of the best gifts of coming home. Having all your pillows and blankets around you is one of the best rewards after a long and tough semester.

7. "I can finally shower without shoes again."

Nothing screams college likes showering in flip flops. This is arguably one of the more annoying things students deal with at college so once the semester you and your feet both smile collectively. Being able to take a shower in your own bathroom is amazing and a perk of acing a semester.

8. "Wow, I really missed my dog/cat/pet iguana."

There's no better feeling than coming home from school to the embrace of your pet. No matter the animal, the love bond you guys have can't be matched and it seems like your reunion is one of the moments you see in movies where you and them are running in slow motion with dramatic music in the back.

9. "Home cooked meals are the bomb."

Nothing sucks more than dining hall food, so coming home to Mom's cooking is amazing. Whether it's something simple or gourmet, anything seems to better than the food offered on your meal plan. One of the best rewards after a hard semester.

10. "I miss all my friends from college."

Although you've only been separated for about a month, every college kid misses their friends from school. People miss seeing each other on campus, and they miss spending time with one another. Sure, texts and phone calls do the trick, but there's nothing like seeing your friends face to face.

11. "When do I get to go back?"

This phase usually hits about halfway through the break. Once you've realized your parents are back to bugging you, you're ready to head back to school to live on your own. And while yes, you do love them very much, you love how sweet independence is as well.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
