11 Things to do for a stressless week

Why live a stressful life when there are simple things you can do to remove that negative energy? Everyone can get lazy and when we get lazy we usually forget about things we have to do and that brings on stress. I try to do all of these things to prevent me from having a stressful week.

1. Set out your clothes the night before.

This might seem a little silly and sound like theres no point , but trust me there is. When you wake up and your outfit is already picked it gives you an extra 5-10 minutes to have to yourself .

2. Pick up your room every night.

Cleaning my room every night has made me less stressed 100%. It is so nice to get in your room and feel like you can just take a deep breath and feel relaxed because your room is clean.

3. Light a candle.

Candles give off a relaxed vibe. I light mine every night when I'm doing homework or even just watching tv.

4. Have a calendar besides your planner.

I have a white board calendar and I put it on the back of my door so before I leave the room I know exactly what is due on that day and what the week looks like.

5. Give yourself "me" time.

This is a must. Designate a time every day for yourself to just sit back and relax. Even if you have a busy schedule make sure you give yourself at least 30 minutes just to take a breath and let your mind rest.

6. Yoga/Meditation.

I am a strong believer that meditation relaxes you completely. I also am a strong believer that yoga puts you in a "zen" mood and feels like all of the stress was lifted off of you.

7. Stretching in the morning.

If you do not like yoga or meditation stretching in the morning is suppose to give you energy and wake your body up. I like to stretch right when I sit up in bed, and then do meditation or yoga later in the day.

8. Pack your back pack the night before.

I used to wait until right before i left for class to pack my bag , but I started to pack it the night before classes and I have not stopped since. It gives you less stress because you are not rushing around to find your papers and books.

9. Go to the gym.

My favorite time to go to the gym is when I am stressed out. It gets rid of al of that built up anxiousness and stress and puts it into energy that gets worked out.

10. Tell yourself something positive every morning.

Give yourself a compliment or say something that you are going to do today. Or even a simple "this is going to be a good day!"

11. Listen to music.

Music is a great tool for anything. I listen to music everyday. Wether I'm stressed out and need to jam out, or I am anxious and need some light instrumental music. Either way music can help with anything especially to de stress.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
