Unless you're living under a rock, you know the show This Is Us, which airs weekly on NBC, has tugged at the heartstrings of millions. The show gives off similar vibes as Parenthood, which wrapped up a few years ago also on NBC because of its strong family values represented throughout the show. This Is Us makes viewers feel like they're a part of the Pearson clan by teaching us so much about life; here's a couple examples:

1. It exemplifies the importance of family.

While children grow and families change, the show reminds us that family is the basis of our existence. After all, where would we be without them?

2. It presents what genuine true love looks like.

Jack and Rebecca certainly had their ups and downs, but the exhibited the realest form of true love.

3. It displays the loss of loved ones.

Rather than sugar coating the loss of the Pearson's loved ones, we get to experience the absolute sorrow the characters are feeling, as if we were a part of the family.

4. It shows us that the best thing you can be is you.

While Kate Pearson struggles with her weight on the show, her family never stops loving her unconditionally. When she meets Toby, she realizes her size isn't what defines her.

5. It doesn't glorify marriage, but shows us the reality of it.

Like Jack and Rebecca, Randall and Beth have their struggles too.

6. It reminds us to take nothing for granted.

Tell that special person you love them whenever you get the chance. One day they might be gone and you may not be as lucky as Kevin was to get that person back.

7. It depicts the importance of strong sibling relationships.

While the Pearson kids may not have been the best of friends growing up, their bond becomes stronger than ever with age.

8. It shows us the highs and lows of parenting.

No family is perfecting and parents make mistakes. The show demonstrates this in an amazing way.

9. It reminds us to live in the moment, but that planning for the future is just as important.

In everything he does, Kevin lives in the moment. From his career to his love life, he never fails to make spontaneous decisions. However, when it comes to Sophie, he is more patient and realistic.

10. It shows us the effects of addiction.

It is clear that Jack had a problem when it comes to drinking. However, he had a support system that tried everything they could to help. Relapses happen in real life, just like they happened to Jack.

11. Most importantly, always do the best you can.

The Pearsons encourage one another to do the best they can when it comes to talents, relationships, and employment.

With the numerous ways This Is Us depicts real life and teaches us lessons about ourselves, it's no wonder the show became such a hit.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
