11 Things To Do This Fall

From pumpkin patching to fall movie nights, your weekends will not be boring this season.

11 Things To Do This Fall

Even though the first day of fall was a few weeks ago, the leaves are just now beginning to change colors and fall, and the weather feels just a little bit cooler. Here are some ideas for things to do this season:

1. Go to a corn maze.

2. Go to a pumpkin patch, and pick out a pumpkin.

3. Then go home and carve or paint your pumpkin.

4. Host a bonfire night for your friends with s'mores and hot apple cider.

5. Invite friends over for chili and watch a fall movie.

6. Bake your favorite fall treats (pumpkin chocolate chip muffins would be my pick) and then deliver them in cute packages for your friends and family.

7. Decorate your room for the season.

8. Go to an apple orchard and pick apples.

9. Then go home and make some apple pie with them.

10. Pile in the car with your best friends and go on a scenic drive with them one Saturday.

11. Go to your favorite hiking place during the peak of the season for the best views.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
