There are a few things that everyone is awkward about such as acting weird around your crush or occasionally tripping in a public area, but then there is a whole new level of awkward that surpasses the average human level of awkward. This level is calledextreme social awkwardness.
Often paired with social anxiety, this condition is caused by discomfort surrounding everything that a person with this condition says or does. They overthink everything that they do, to the point of making everyone else around them just as uncomfortable as they are. If you have this condition or suspect that you do, you will relate to these situations.
1. Waving at people and them not noticing you, but everyone else noticing that you were just straight up rejected.
2. Going in for that high-five (and out of your way to be friendly) and also getting left hanging.
3. Not knowing how to greet people.
Or how to say goodbye to them.
4. Trying to pretend that you're more chill than you actually are.
5. "Making an appearance" at a party.
6. Giving up your inhibitions and letting the party animal out.
You look like a freak because you are in no way normal.
6. Then trying to pull it off like you didn't do anything weird.
7. The shame sets in and you start over-analyzing everything that you do and you forget how to use your body.
8. Then you forget how to make eye contact.
Is this right? I think that I'm doing it right now.
9. You don't know how to react to things that people say because you're not paying attention to what they're saying as you're preparing how you're going to react.
You either nod inappropriately when someone tells you that their dog died or they're having a baby...
...or you overreact to: "Heard its supposed to rain tomorrow."
On the inside, you're just hoping that your face looks normal.
10. Then you forget how to use your face at all.
11. So you just moonwalk away from whatever social situation you have gotten yourself into.
You'd rather be alone and left with your awkward moments to haunt you for approximately eight years.
