For those of us who have learned different habits while being at college, we can all agree that when we come home for Thanksgiving break, many of those routines are put on hold. This is a mini vacation from having to do 8 different responsibilities at once, as well as setting aside enough time to set ourselves on fire in the process. So why not relax when we can? We may not want to admit it, but a lot of us end up doing these things.
1. Completely forgetting what a clean room is
We all smile when we come home to a clean room. But give it a day and we'll forget what our floor even looks like.
2. Buying food from your favorite places every day
Sometimes we forget that we're broke college students and we rely on dining dollars as our form of payment at school. But when we go home, all that is out the window when we see our favorite diners or pizzerias.
3. It's also Black Friday during this time...
So that means clothes... We will most definitely be buying clothes
4. Seeing your home friends is like a revelation
In reality, we saw them a few months ago, possibly sooner. But when we see them over break we act like we haven't seen them in years.
5. And seeing best friends from home means hearing stories only townies would understand
Which means hours of telling stories from this semester vs. our friends at school telling us stories from that day.
6. Relaxing for a whole day if that's all you feel like doing
Sometimes we feel guilty if we're attempting to binge on Netflix at school. However, if there was ever a time to challenge ourselves to get through the three tv shows we've been missing, it would be now.
7. Realizing at the end of the week that you still have that homework that you knowingly put off
Yes, it's a holiday break. No, teachers don't care. The good thing is, neither do we for once... until the very last minute.8. Not having to be opinionated around family
At school, many of us have had to develop our opinions on certain matters. At family gatherings, we can leave politics and other matters up to our families to duke out.
9. Bath bombs... we can finally use bath bombs
No co-ed showers for us right now! For once we don't need shower flip flops, and we can finally spend an hour in the tub... or two... or just stay in there until someone finds us.
10. Relying on your parents to help you with most things while you're home
Admit it. We're all so lazy when we're home that we take every chance possible to have our parents help us with the most menial tasks that we could probably do easily by ourselves at school.
11. And there some days where we'd rather just stay in with the fam
No matter what's going on with our friends on break, there are nights where we want to just chill out with our family. It's been a while since we saw them, we might as well do as much as we can with them, even if it's just watching the same "Friends" or "It's Always Sunny" episodes.
