One of the best things about going home for the holiday season is getting to see my friends from high school. Of course I love seeing my family, getting time off from school, the extra sleep, and just being home. But my hometown friends are what make me truly feel like I'm at home, like everything is right in the world. I can't wait to see y'all again SOON.
1. The initial moment of being reunited is the best feeling you could ever imagine. You've been waiting so long to see them, and now it's finally happening.
2. You hit the town just like you used to in high school. And by this I mean you hit up your favorite stores and restaurants and all the stuff you can't get in your college town.
3. Being able to walk right into your friends' houses is a blessing, because even if they're not home yet, you can always hang out with their parents. (Who are much cooler than your friends believe them to be.)
4. You can finally catch up on all the hometown gossip with someone who understands and can elaborate.
5. Christmas gifts always come from the heart, because they've known you for so long.
6. Nostalgia and reminiscing about high school does not fall on deaf ears. In fact, they'll only encourage it, because they were there to experience it too.
7. Just be careful, because they will bring up all the dumb things you did in high school.
8. But you're reminded that these friends are obviously friends for life if they knew you during high school and still want to be your friend.
9. You get to trade all the wisdom you've learned over the past semester.
10. You both will refuse to leave each other when it's time to go back to school. And the subsequent "which one of us is going to have to transfer so we can be together again" argument will occur.
