You can expect a lot of things to happen when you pack up the past year of your life. From finding that one dress you desperately wanted to wear to a formal to realizing your stuff magically tripled in size from when you first moved in, it is a stressful process. It is a different experience for everyone, but there are always a few things to expect. Packing up my sophomore dorm, I began to think about how I went through all these same experiences freshman year. I do not know how packing up my house next year will go, but here are a few things everyone can relate to when packing up a dorm room.
1. Finding all of the receipts from every little thing you bought over the course of the school year.
I now remember why my bank account is so low.
2. Getting distracted with the random toys you got for free from a school sponsored event.
This is mostly procrastination because I do not know where to start on packing.
3. You finally find that dress you had wanted to wear out.
Maybe that is why the cute boy at the party did not talk to me, because I did not have this dress.
4. Having a fashion show with all of your clothes.
5. Uncovering that test you wanted to forget.
There's a reason I threw this in the bottom of my desk drawer.
6. Finding socks under your bed that are not yours and wondering how they got there.
I do not have a boyfriend. Why are there men's socks in my room?
7. Convincing yourself you can watch another episode of your new favorite show on Netflix.
I can definitely afford to watch the Pretzel Day episode again. Always.
8. Having random dance breaks
Just because packing is surprisingly stressful!
9. Looking at the clock and noticing it has taken you nearly two hours to pack one box.
But then you use it as an excuse to take a break...
10. Realizing everything you own has tripled in size.
I do not think I can get all this to fit in my car...
11. But then it all works out and you realize you get to go home for the summer!
After all that stress of packing and fitting ten billion boxes into your small car, you can finally go home for the summer. No more tests, no more papers, no more school. Oh, and you can see your family. It all worked out in the end. Next up, junior year!
