I first watched Gilmore Girls after seeing commercials for the show on the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie when I was in high school. Before high school I never payed attention to the previews; so, if I hadn't lost the remote (for the millionth time) just in time to skip the previews, I may have never experienced the amazing world of the Gilmore Girls.

1. Caffeine is your friend.

Okay, I know that most people knew this without Gilmore Girls, but Lorelei showed me that you do not need to be ashamed of your caffeine addiction.

2. It's okay to be a little immature sometimes

Everyone has things that they need to be a certain way. If that means you might act a little immature from time to time: WHO CARES? Your friends and family will get used to it and love you anyways!

3. It's good to get out of your comfort zone.

Okay, now don't jump off a building without someone who knows what they are doing, but try something new! Join a new club, try a new restaurant or go out with your friends after you claim is your bedtime. It will be worth it.

4. It is okay to freak out from time to time!

It is impossible to have your life together 100% of the time. If you have a nervous breakdown just use it as an excuse to eat buckets of ice-cream while you re-write everything in your planner.

5. It's okay to not know something.

No one has an answer for everything. It's okay to ask for help. If all else fails, fake it till you make it!

6. You don't have to know what you want to do with your life at 20.

I mean, Rory was gonna go to Harvard and then she went to Yale. Your mind will change about things and that's normal. You're young- if you don't think you will be happy with your decisions in five years, change them now. Change your major. Take the job that doesn't pay well but gets you experience. Don't let yourself regret the decisions you made.

7. School is important!

Trust me, to succeed in college you have to study and college is one of the most important and most expensive things you will ever do.

8. It's more important to be smart than pretty.

If you can do both, hat's off to you but personally I would prefer an extra hour of studying before a test than to spend that time getting ready. It is more important for me to succeed than it is for me to look good.

9. Walking in heels is hard.

Okay, maybe this is just me, but high heels are the worst. I can't walk very fast and I rush around a lot. I prefer flats or sandals if I feel like I may need a get away...

Quick moment of appreciation for She's The Man for adding this amazing fact to what I said.

10. Food is always good.

Food is like the best thing ever. You need it to survive AND it tastes good. I mean this is a real winner.

11. You are never too old to need your mom!

Seriously, never too old.

Overall, the Gilmores taught me that I have to be myself and that I should never apologize for doing so. It is never to late to try something new and I am never too old to ask for help. I may not be perfect, no one is, but if I am being the best version of myself that I can, I am doing something right.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
