Now that August is upon us, there is a standard fear that the summer will soon be over. Even though summer is amazing and I would hate to see it go, there are things that can make you feel better about the season's end. Here are a few things that I believe you should be excited about as summer ends and fall begins:
1. Seasons Changing
If nothing else, seeing the seasons change by watching the tree leaves become a bunch of different colors is beautiful. BSU's campus during fall is probably my favorite place to be.
2. No More 90 Degree Days
Do we love the heat? Yes. Do we love two weeks straight of 90 degree plus heat and humidity? No, absolutely not. Personally, the steady 60 degree days of fall are my favorite.
3. Moving Into School
Going to school itself is not on this list because well, who wants to go back to school? But moving into the dorms and seeing your friends for the first time in a while is always something to look forward to.
4. Labor Day Weekend
Who doesn't love long weekends? Whether you are already back in school or you're stuck at work, long weekends are the best. Labor day weekend is a perfect last hurrah for summer.
5. Football Season
I love football season. It is something to do when you just want to have a lazy Sunday or something to spontaneously have a party for. Also, Fantasy Football is kind of the best.
6. Holidays
Halloween and Thanksgiving begin the Holiday Season. Not only do they make it okay for you to eat poorly, but they also signify that Christmas is right around the corner.
7. Apple and Pumpkin Flavored Everything
Some people find the sheer amount of apple and pumpkin flavored foods and drinks overkill but I disagree. I would probably eat/drink anything that were one of those flavors.
8. Hoodies
Shorts, t-shirts and flip flops are great, but does anything compare to cuddling up in a nice hoodie? Especially when it is fresh out of the dryer? Absolutely not.
9. Meals
There are just some good old fashion, rib sticking meals that are impossible to make during the summer because it is just too hot to. Fall means that having the oven on for a few hours is no big deal.
10. TV Shows Are Back
Everyone misses their favorite TV shows over the summer. Now those cliff hangers that have been bugging you all Summer can finally be resolved.
11. Fairs and Festivals
There is probably nothing better than a Harvest fair or festival in the fall. Rides, games, food...you name it and it is there. It is a whole day of fall bliss.
