We have officially hit that time of year where the has temperature rapidly decreased, it gets dark at 4:00, and people are already buying their Advent calendars for December. If you're anything like me, you probably saw this coming but didn't expect it to come this fast.

Seriously, it was just Halloween y'all!

But as we cuddle up next to a nice warm fire with a soft blanket and a cup of creamy hot chocolate, why can't we start thinking about one of the best holidays in the world -- Thanksgiving. And while we're on the subject, let's talk about the best part of Thanksgiving -- the heaps of amazing food we get to scarf down with our friends and family. But which Thanksgiving foods are truly the best?

11. Roasted carrots

Don't get me wrong, roasted carrots are great and all. But they are nothing compared to the rest of what we get to enjoy on Thanksgiving. Plus, you can have roasted carrots any other time of the year with a meal. Is having stuffing for dinner in the summer socially acceptable? I don't think so.

10. Brussel sprouts

Depending on how you cook them, Brussel sprouts can be a pretty damn good side for your Thanksgiving meal. I know one of my favorite ways to cook them is by roasting them with a balsamic sauce to give them a little extra flavor. But even then, we all knew Brussel sprouts weren't going to make it high on this list compared to the other fabulous dishes.

9. Pecan pie

Arguably one of my favorite pies offered during the holidays, but this ranking is for everyone and not just me and there are plenty of other Thanksgiving foods that deserve more credit. Some may say pecan pie is too sweet, but I say eat all of the freaking pecan pie you can.

8. Sweet potato casserole

People might fight me on this one, but I'm a huge fan of the sweet potato casserole with the melted marshmallows on top. It is absolutely delicious and a Thanksgiving staple in my household.

7. Bread rolls

Some of the best creations in our lives, bread rolls are amazing. They come in so many different shapes, sizes, and types; it's incredible. Not feeling just a plain white bread? Try a little whole grain action. Want it with butter or with jam? -- go for it girlfriend. 10/10 would rather eat a bread roll over anything else.

6. Gravy

Who doesn't love a good gravy? When you pour it all over your mashed potatoes and turkey and mix it all together - it makes everything on your plate taste so much better.

5. Cranberry sauce

I'm just going to come out and say it – cranberry sauce makes Thanksgiving dinner. Yeah, you don't usually eat roast turkey during any other time of the year besides Thanksgiving and about a month afterward, but you might roast chicken in June. And though we all love cranberry sauce, we never eat it at any other time of the year. And that is what makes cranberry sauce so great is that it's basically a symbol for this beautiful time of the year.

4. Pumpkin pie

Okay, pumpkin pie gets a bad wrap, and I don't understand why. Pumpkin pie is incredible and so delicious. If it was socially acceptable to eat it year-round, I would never stop. It's one of the best foods because it's so creamy and so fluffy. I feel like there's no real way to go wrong with a pumpkin pie.

3. Mashed potatoes

This is a no-brainer. I have yet to hear a bad remark made about the food. Whether you want to add a little garlic, a little cheese, leave it chunky, or make it smooth, there is absolutely no way to mess up mashed potatoes. Everyone loves them and will be more than happy to eat whatever you put on the table.

2. Apple pie

By far one of my favorite pies ever. And while I like pumpkin pie better than apple pie, I feel like apple pie is the quintessential dessert during the holidays. Whether it's the slight cinnamon spice, the heaps of apples or the perfectly baked crust that makes me immediately think of winter and Christmas and Thanksgiving, no one can argue that it's a bad food.

1. Stuffing

By far, the best food offered at the dinner table on Thanksgiving day. If I could eat stuffing for every dinner for the rest of my life, believe me, I would. Whether it's the seasoning or the texture of warm bread that is soaked in turkey stock and so easily melts in your mouth, it is definitely in my top ten favorite foods of all time.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
