There's nothing quite like the unexpected best friends you meet while away at college.

But what happens when classes end and you all head back to your hometowns for summer? Sure, you have your hometown friends whom you grew up with, but you've been spending almost every day, all day, with your college friends.

Luckily, sending a couple hundred texts to those friends each day helps the time away from them go a little faster:

1. "When are you coming to visit?"

The only thing better than hanging out with your BFFs at college is having your college BFFs visit your hometown. You get to be a tour guide for a day and show them all the famous spots your charming little town has to offer. Them visiting can't come soon enough.

2. "Should I post this throwback of us on Instagram?"

Naturally, when you're missing your girls, you turn to your photos app and relive all the fun memories that come along with pictures taken in a sweaty basement. They're totally Insta-worthy, right?

3. "You'll never guess who texted me."

Since we know you and your life so well, we probably will be able to guess. But if it's that boy from your history class who ghosted you two months ago, we're not going to like the outcome.

4. "I just went to Target alone, and it was weird."

When you're away at college, your roommates and BFFs are your built in shopping buddies. Target runs become an anticipated weekly tradition, so it almost feels weird now going without them.

5. "Why aren't you texting me back!? Type faster."

For those "emergency texts" when your BFFs don't respond in the record time that you're used to. The thing about summer is most of them have jobs to distract them from being glued to the group chat.

6. "I can't wait til we're back at *insert school name*."

This usually gets said once a week, if not more. The separation anxiety is beginning to kick in, and you're not sure how much longer you can make it without your friends living down the hall from you.

7. "I saw this and it reminded me of you."

This one probably comes with an attachment of a funny video that only you and your friends would laugh at.

8. "Can you guys go like my picture?"

If you were really my friend, wouldn't you have post notifications on? Gosh!!

9. "I miss you. A lot."

You have to throw in the "a lot" because we all know we're missing each other.

10. "Look at what I just bought!"

Attached would be a picture of the cute shirt you bought, even though it was overpriced. Your friends are just as broke as you, but they'll help you justify the purchase.

11. "September can't come soon enough."

Because come September, you're reunited!

Going the whole summer without your college friends will never be easy, but the texts you send each other will make you feel like nothing ever changed.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
